Hi I'm Katie Shakespeare

I'm a daughter, a wife, a mother, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up (mostly) in the state of Washington, but have lived in California, Illinois, New Hampshire, Ohio, Idaho, and a short stay in Alaska. I come from a family of 8 and now have my own family of 3 1/2 (little one due October 1st). I married my best friend in August of 2008. Had my first daughter in August of 2010, graduated from BYU-Idaho in April 2011, husband graduated April 2012, moved to Alaska for 9 months for an internship, and now back home in good ol' Puyallup, Washington. We have just entered the "limbo" stage of our life between college and medical school. We are currently in the process in applying all around the country and if you know anything about applying to medical school you know it is stressful, long, tedious, and expensive. However, we have a very exciting new addition coming to our family on October 1st. A little boy will join our family and we couldn't be more thrilled!

Why I am a Mormon

Besides growing up in a family who were all active members in the Church. I had my own conversion to the Gospel through study, prayer, and many questions. I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because I know it is the only true church on the Earth that contains the fullness of the Gospel. That is why I choose every day to live this faith. Because I know there is a God and Jesus Christ lived and this is their Church. I am also a Mormon because I have never felt more blessed, loved, and at peace with my life than when I am living the Gospel. I know exactly who I am, a daughter of God, I know exactly why I am here, and where I am going after this life is through. Life is hard here, and yes I still have many many challenges and trials but the knowledge and testimony I have gained has always brought me through them. My life has meaning and purpose and I know that is only because of the Gospel. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

How I live my faith? This is an interesting question, kind of makes me think "how do I live my faith"? I think I live my faith a little more quiet than I should. That is why I am making this profile so I can share it with people and let them know what I believe. Other than the fact that I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, swear and I wear modest clothing some people might not even know I am Mormon. I live my faith each and every single second of every single day. It's not just a religion it's my life. My faith ultimately is who I am. It's why I choose to not shop on Sundays, why I chose to save myself for marriage, why I pray each morning and every night, why I read my scriptures (almost) daily. I live my faith consciously with every decision I make. As I live the Gospel I also serve within the Church and its different organizations and with in our community. My faith is one of service. I have had the opportunity to work with the children, young women, and women with in the church on Sundays and through out the week. Again, I live my faith every day not just on the Sabbath. I now want to live my faith out loud. I have always heard actions speak louder than words, but I think it's time for me to actually use my words and allow everyone I know to know I am a Mormon and I would love to share my beliefs with you!
