Hi I'm Rachel

I'm a 6 foot 1 Scottish pharmacist, sister, daughter, and missionary. I'm also a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the Highlands of Scotland - and when I say grew up, I mean literally - at a little over 6 foot, it's hard to miss me! I also grew up a vegetarian (I decided to go veggie when I was about seven) and as a child I always liked to do well at school. My parents got divorced during my high school years, but despite this I've always been close to my family, and when I moved away to the big city to go to university I appreciated them even more. I trained to be a pharmacist at university and finished my training on the North coast of Northern Ireland, where I decided to serve a full time mission for the Lord. I got called to the Greece Athens mission, starting at the Missionary Training Centre in September 2017. Boy, am I excited!

Why I am a Mormon

I was brought up in the church but my decision to continue coming to church was my own. I've always wanted to do what's right, and the church helps me become my best self. My faith increased the most the year I studied and immersed myself in the Book of Mormon. I knew then that it was true and the gospel was real. Maybe from my love of learning I enjoy reading the scriptures every morning, it gives me a great start to the day and helps me feel closer to God. Being a Mormon gives me so many opportunities, but having the gospel at the centre of my life helps me see things in perspective and put the most important things first.

How I live my faith

At the moment I live my faith by trying to be the best daughter, sister and friend I can be before I leave for my mission. Through my years of activity in the Church though, I've tried to improve by serving others the best I can, through Young Single Adult activties, visiting others in the church regularly, teaching children and young people on Sundays, and attending all of the meetings I can. It's a great chance to get to know other people in the area, be inspired by gospel lessons, challenge myself, and, at mid-week activities, share good food!
