Hi I'm Simeon

I am from England. I am preparing to serve a mission in the Brazil Porto Alegre North Mission. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am preparing to serve a mission to the the Brazil Porto Alegre North Mission, I am so excited to be able to be experience the culture and to meet the wonderful people! I have always wanted to serve a mission. I think it's partly because i was raised a Mormon, but its something I've always been thinking and praying about and it feels right. I love learning. Whilst studying at college I developed a love of learning. I am really interested in History and hope to go to university to study History. I always tried to understand as much as I could about my studies, and this love spread into the gospel. I love reading books by church members and listening to the talks. This has helped me to gain a deeper understanding of the Gospel, the more I learn the more I realize I hardly know anything!! But this only intensifies my resolve to learn and understand more. Along with school studies, I love sports and music. I play hockey for clubs and love to play badminton. I really enjoy the competition and team work involved in sports. Music wise, I love a variety, from classical to jazz and more. One of my hobbies is playing the saxophone, it is the coolest instrument!! My family are the best, they have always wanted me to be the best I can. They encourage me to put my all into everything I do. It would be impossible for me to enjoy life without them, they are wonderful!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because i feel it's true. I've never had a major dramatic experience but I've gotten to know that this church is true by reading the book of Mormon and by praying. It's been a constant pattern for me to continue to develop my testimony. In some ways growing up in the church may seem like I've just gone along with my family, but It is my choice. I know this church is true, that we have a living prophet on this earth that gives us direction. The book of Mormon is the word of God, it was translated by the power of God through Joseph Smith. He was called of God to bring the gospel of Jesus Christ back in this day. You don't gain a testimony of this church by waiting, we must be active in finding the truth. This gospel can offer peace and joy, to those who a ready to receive this wonderful gift. Sometimes to live the standards is difficult in a world without morale's, but Christ offers strength and help to those willing to walk in faith. I know this gospel is true, Jesus Christ is the living Son of the living God. He loves us and cares for us. I know the He took upon Himself our sins, our pains and our sorrows. Therefore He invites to come unto Him to repent of things we do wrong so that we can become more like Him. I know that Jesus the Christ took upon Himself the sorrows and our pains so that He could comfort us in our afflictions, that when we feel alone and that no one understands, He always will. He performed this wonderful action (called the Atonement) out of love for us. He has shouldered our salvation alone, He asks us to keep His commandments, to have faith and repent, to make and keep covenants and to endure to the end. These things He asks, not as payment, but as a way for us to become as He is, that we can be filled with His enabling grace. By ourselves we can achieve very little, but with the grace of Christ there is nothing we cannot do; because He loves us, we do not have to be alone, because of His grace, we can do all He asks.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith through my daily actions. I currently help my church by being an assistant ward clark, which allows me to help with the more formal side of the church. I really enjoyed participating in Seminary ( a 4 year course that helps people understand scriptures) and in EFY (a week long program where you meet other people in the church). The biggest way I live my faith is my mission, dedicating two years to serving and helping people.
