Hi I'm Jordan

I grew up in Colorado. I'm currently attending SUU as a biology pre-med major and I love the gospel!

About Me

I can't even tell you how many times I've erased and rewrote this thing! It's quite the challenging task to write about yourself. I guess I could start out by telling you that I've been LDS my whole life and I have enjoyed every second of it. It's such a tremendous blessing to my family. We've had some of the worst trails and tribulations that life could throw at us and the gospel taught us to stick together and to always have faith. When I was about six and my older sister was about eight, we were molested by our neighbor and as a six year old, you really don't understand how traumatic that is for you. As I got older I began to understand what had happened and I see how it has affected my family. I can't describe to you how my parents felt but it still hurts them to this day. Having the gospel in my life has helped me heal and has helped my family to heal. I am so grateful for my ward family as well, they have always been there for us. I just want to make all of them proud by always working my hardest and by chasing my dreams. I want to be a Medical Examiner.I want to be married in the temple and sealed to my eternal companion for time and all eternity. I want to always find the good in the world and in people. Having faith and living righteously will help me live my life to my standards and to the gospel's.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because with the way society is today, it's nice to have something to turn to where are the values taught are pure and right. The gospel brings me happiness and peace. I know I can turn to Heavenly Father in time of need. The gospel is a comfort zone knowing that it's perfectly ok to choose the right, even if you stand alone. I know that this is the true church and the gospel is true. I know that I am never alone and if I need help I will get it. I'm blessed to have the gospel in my life. I can't imagine how my life would have turned out without it. I'm so very thankful for the atoning sacrifice Jesus made for us and I'm grateful for the atonement in my life. I'm grateful for the temple and the ordinances done there. The best decision I've made was to be baptized and confirmed a member of this church. I chose to be a member of this church because it is true and brings so much joy and happiness to my life.

How I live my faith

I was born and raised in a small town. It's not the most spiritual town and there aren't a lot of youth members. It's a challenge living by the standards without anyone questioning why you wont hang out with them on Sundays or why tea and coffee isn't apart of your diet, everyday. Through my experiences and the things I've been taught to do, it's an easy explanation. I choose not to involve myself with those things because they don't bring true happiness and living the standards and truths I've been taught brings that desired happiness. How I live my faith is simple. Use the tools provided for us to expand my faith and knowledge and not just acquiring these truths but applying them. Living by the standards that I have been taught my whole life helps in difficult situations and in making difficult decisions, by choosing the right and being a good example helps me and others realize that having the courage to stand up for my beliefs can help a person have more faith and live by my faith. Doing simple things like praying, daily scripture study, personal progress, being humble, service, attending church and sacrament meeting, seminary, and all those wonderful gifts help me live my faith everyday.

What is the Mormon lifestyle like? How do Mormons live?

Jordan
The Mormon lifestyle is quite simple. We are put on this earth party to experience trails and tribulations and make our own decisions. We choose the lifestyle we want and that lifestyle is to have everlasting joy and happiness. We as members strive to make the right decision to bring us happiness and to bring the sense of joy. We can find happiness by doing daily scripture study and praying often. Helping and doing service for others is another choice that will bring happiness in our lives. Show more Show less

How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

Jordan
Being modest in dress, language, and behavior reflects who an individual really is. If a person chooses to dress immodest for a date or just in general it can cause others to think or act inappropriately. Whether we notice it or not, everyone watches us as members. Some are waiting to call us out on mistakes while others follow by example. We need to respect ourselves and Heavenly Father by being modest and chaste. Being modest and chaste also causes others to have respect for you and to follow your example. Show more Show less
