Hi I'm Janet

I am a wife, a mother of 7 children and the grandmother of 22 grandchildren all of whom I love greatly. I am a Mormon

About Me

During my life I have been able to enjoy doing many things. Among my hobbies, I have painted pictures and even sold a few. I love horses and learned how to raise and train a few. I put thirty five years into learning to do genealogical research and for a time I was employed in that arena. However, I most enjoy doing it volunteer and teaching others how to find their ancestors. I have loved raising children. I consider that time in my life to have been the most challenging and rewarding experience. I was committed to being a "Stay-at-Home" mom. Our seven children have married wonderful spouses and are serving in the Church and raising their own families. After our children were raised, we desired to serve a full-time senior couple mission for the L.D.S. church, but we lacked the funds to do so. That is when I decided to go to work. However, since I did not have a professional background that would give us enough income to help us save rapidly, I decided to enter the field of insurance. I studied and eventually passed the test. While serving in this field I became a Certified Senior Advisor, and started a small consulting firm advising those who were placing a loved one into assisted care. I really enjoyed helping families in this way. After 9 years my husband and I were able to save enough money together, and we were able to serve a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have learned for myself through prayer and searching the scriptures that the Church of Jesus Christ is His true and living church here upon the earth in these "Latter Days". I know that it has been organized by His hand and that it follows the pattern designed by God. It is the same plan that Heavenly Father has had for all of mankind upon the earth. I know that Jesus Christ is exactly whom He claims to be. I know that through Him and Him alone are men able to be saved. I know that He lives and that He did live in the meridian of times and that He made that supreme sacrifice so that I might return to live with Him again. I am grateful for His perfect example and His willingness to do all that He has done through His Atonement. I recognize that this was accomplished so that I, in my imperfections might be redeemed to have a perfect body and to have the opportunity to continue to progress and learn into the eternities. I am so grateful that I was blessed with the opportunity to learn of this plan in my tender youth. I am grateful for the blessing of scripture that we might know God and Jesus Christ and learn their teachings and learn how to follow them.

How I live my faith

I love my Savior Jesus Christ. I joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints when I was 13 years old. Even though I was young, I took my responsibility to learn that the Church was His true church very seriously, and after much prayer, and a very strong desire to learn for myself, I received an undeniable confirmation that the "Book of Mormon" was God's true gift to mankind and that Joseph Smith was and is a true prophet of God. I have never doubted that confirmation. I suppose you might say that I have lived my faith by enduring the challenges and trials that have been a part of my life. During the time I was raising my children I relied heavily upon the promptings of the Holy Ghost to help me teach them and keep them safe, and I have many stories to support those efforts. I had difficulties during pregnancy and spent weeks in bed in order to get them safely here. In fact with the last two children I stayed in bed the whole nine months. When I was 37 I was in a serious car accident that changed the course of my life and greatly effected my family as well. It took almost 18 years to recover from that accident sufficiently so that it did not effect at least a couple of days out of each week of our time together. During those years many things occurred that helped me to know of God's love for me and of His watchful care over me and my family. I have enjoyed serving in many areas in the Church, from Boy Scouting, to teaching children and other women of the Church. My favorite responsibility was to have the opportunity to serve as a full time missionary. I also loved serving as a consultant at some of the many Family History Libraries including the one at Brigham Young University. I love to teach and currently I serve in a teaching position among the women of the Church.
