Hi I'm Avery

I'm a lifelong member of the Church. I'm a competitive swimmer and a current High School student.

About Me

As stated before I'm a competitive swimmer. I do this at the high school level and have been blessed to make it to state with out being a USA/club swimmer due to my obedience to the gospel and especially because I have been willing to sacrifice much needed pool time to go to seminary. I have had the opportunity to be a leader on my swim team and to compete in the Kentucky state swim meet two years running as a freshman and a sophomore and still counting. I've also had success with my friends on our church basketball team as we were able to bring home the tri-stake basketball title three years in a row. I have also had the opportunity to have excellent experiences with Boy Scouts of America. I have been able to learn, grow, and achieve thought this program. I have been able to benefit by achieving it's highest honor of eagle scout. These things have strengthened my belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know that it is true. I know that the book of Mormon is the word of God and the bible is also as long as it is translated correctly. I know and am very greatful for the restoration of this gospel. I know that Joseph Smith was the first prophet of this reorganized church and that he did in fact see the father and the son, that they were two separate personages. I know that Joseph Smith is the one who through God's power translated the book of Mormon. I know that god has a plan for each of us and that we have the agency to choose wether or not to complete that plan. I also know that Abraham 3:22-23 carries a very important message for all of us. That there are noble and great spirits that are on the earth today and live amoung us and don't even realize that it is them who Christ gathered together and were his prophets and strongest spirits in the premortal life. I believe these things to be true in the name of Jesus Christ amen.

How I live my faith

I live my faith most by my example and by the way I stand apart from other people due to my beliefs. I often am presented with opportunities to share my beliefs with friends and peers as they ask questions about what I believe and why I believe what I do. I have had awesome experiences like this but my favorite was when I was able to share the story of the restoration of the church and how we came back to the earth again as a church. I was able to share the scripture James 1:5-6 and the significance of it to my friend because she wondered which of all the churches were true. I was filled with the spirit when I was able to do this because of the knowledge I had of our gospel. I also have opportunities to serve and live my beliefs in my ward because I am the priests quorum secretary and have an opportunity as a leader in my quorum to fellowship and be an example in my ward and with my friends. I have opportunities to teach and share my knowledge with them and learn from them as well. This greatly impacts my beliefs.
