Hi I'm Cody

I grew up in Utah, I'm a wrestler, dancer, actor, and lover of spontaneity. I'm a mormon!

About Me

I am currently serving as a full time missionary in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania mission. When I get home I plan on attending BYU Idaho for school, and getting married. The one thing I want more than anything in life is to be real. To be honest. I'm not very good at it yet, but I've begun to understand that this world is full of lies. Most of them are lies that we tell ourselves. I've found that as individuals, and especially in my life, we become blind to things as they really are. We become blinded by habit, social circumstance. Often times we blind ourselves to real life through justification. I want to eliminate this in my life, and help others around me recognize deception as well. I love being silly. I love puns, and word play. Nothing makes me happier than helping someone else laugh, or smile. I also really, really, really, really want to get married... In the Temple.... Because that's how we do things. I've always enjoyed being involved, and being a well rounded person is important to me. Throughout high school I spent a lot of time in the wood shop, I was captain of the wrestling team, secretary of the Magic the Gathering club, treasurer of the drama club, member of our modern dance company, and an avid League of Legends player.

Why I am a Mormon

In order to state why I am a Mormon, it first needs to be understood what a Mormon is. A Mormon, is a member of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I've come to find out that this truly is the Church of Jesus Christ. I want so badly to be a follower of Jesus Christ. I know he is my Savior, and that through him I can be forgiven of my sins. The promises that he has made to us of peace in this life, and in the life to come can be realized as we follow him. He leads this church, and because of that, it is only in this church that I can really follow Christ. I've made my fair share of mistakes, and there was a point where I really was unsure how I could even function due to the grief, anxiety, and shame that I felt because of my mistakes. I found Christ in the words I'd been reading all my life. I found forgiveness as I embraced the teachings of the church, and as I sought the counsel of my leaders, which were called of God. In short, I'm a Mormon because it's the only way I know I can follow Christ.

How I live my faith

Currently I serve as a full time missionary, which means that I spend all my time out talking to people and helping them come to Christ. I love reading my scriptures, and love learning about Christ. A particular passion I have is family history. Finding out about my ancestors, and teaching others how to find theirs. I spend a lot of time teaching this to Mormons, and non Mormons alike. I also llove teaching kids more than anything though. Coloring, telling stories, and singing songs are my favorite ways to share the gospel, and they make me super happy! The purpose of all these things, however, is to become more like Jesus Christ. I spend a lot of time in prayer, and in the scriptures, I teach others, because that is what Christ did, and if I'm going to be happy, I need to do the things He does.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Serving as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a privilege that every worthy and able young man and young woman in the church has been extended. It is a duty for every young man in the church, and a wonderful option for young women in the church. No one, however, is forced to do anything. Those who serve missions only do so if it is their desire. Show more Show less
