Hi I'm Dawn

I have been a Mormon since 1972 . I married Raymond when I was 21, and we have 5 children. We live in North Wales.

About Me

After raising 5 children I decided to go to college to gain an education. This has been a challenge but one that I am loving and hope to gain a HND by the end of next year. My hobbies are sewing, photography, and most crafts. I also like to do fund raising to help local charities. We have six grandsons and a grandaughter that fill our lives with love and laughter.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 12 I was asked by my brother to go to a baptism at the mormon church, I did not feel I needed a new religion as I already attendard a church, but felt I should support him. I watched the man baptising the young lady and my whole body filled with warmth and joy. I knew that this was the true church and that the authortity by which they baptised was from God. My life changed from then on to this day.

How I live my faith

I try to stay apart of the community by raising funds for the cancer unit, as this is the charity close to my heart. At church I have served in verious positions, helping the youth, the children and looking after the ladies. One of the things that we get to do is visit either 3/4 ladies a month. I get to teach an uplifting message and help if they are sick by cleaning or ironing, making meals and sometimes looking after their children for the day or until they are able to manage to do so themselves. It is a privalage to be apart of an organization that provides this kind of care for its members.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Dawn
Joseph Smith was a young 14 year old boy who worked with his dad on the farm and had very little schooling. His family were split where religion was concerned and he was confused as to which religion to join. Whilst he was reading James 1v 5 in the bible which says " if any lack wisdom let him ask of God" he felt he certainly needed help and decided to go to a nearby grove of trees and seek help. Joseph kneeled down in prayer and asked which church was true, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appered telling him to join none of them, but at a future date it would be revealed to him what was to happen . He received visits from another person called Moroni who had lived on the earth before and was a prophet. He had kept records on gold plates of the time in which he had lived, and told Joseph he would one day receive these plates and translate them according to Gods plan. When Joseph was 24 he received these plates and translated them using things he had found with the gold plates in the hill Cumorah, called urim and thummin. God had chosen a young man called Joseph to be the restorer of his gospel, Joseph suffered much for claiming to have been visited and taught by angels, even to the lose of his own life eventually. He had only asked a question, he didnt choose to be the prophet any more than you or I would, but he, an uneducated man, brought forth the Book of Mormon and sealed his testimony that God Lives with his blood. I add my testimony that this is the Lords church. Show more Show less
