Hi I'm Kate

I am from Utah, USA. I love spending time with my family and in the great outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Utah and have lived here most of my life. My fondest memories are of family vacations spent hiking near the beautiful arches and red rocks of southern Utah, and boating on Bear Lake to the north. I am a college student with medical school ambitions, but for the next year and a half I will be taking a break from my university studies to serve a full-time Mormon mission in South America. In my free time, I love to discover and test organic markets and recipes, create music on the violin, guitar and ukulele, and play silly games with my nieces and nephews.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up as a Mormon, I never remember doubting that this church was indeed Jesus Christ's and that it had been restored by His prophet, Joseph Smith. I always enjoyed the feelings of comfort, hope, and familiarity I felt as I attended meetings, activities, and studied the word of God in the Bible and Book of Mormon. However, during my youth, most of my testimony was based on the testimonies of my parents, leaders, and exemplary friends. I realized it was important that I discover for myself if this church was true and how I could defend and describe my own personal testimony to others. After reading the Book of Mormon diligently, purposefully attending church and pondering the teachings in my mind and heart, I prayed earnestly to God to know of His purposes and truth. I came to know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and the Redeemer of all mankind. The complete gospel of salvation is on the earth, and is taught in its fulness in this church. I am a Mormon because I am able to draw near to God and to His Son through these teachings, and I know that it is the only thing to bring me true happiness now and for the rest of my life.

How I live my faith

Although I live in an area with a dense Mormon population, I still find ways to demonstrate my faith within my home and community. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches of the need for unity and support in our striving to follow the Savior, and I've been able to organize activities and committees in my congregation that build our friendship. Also, I've enjoyed being a teacher and leader to dozens of youth in various locations, and have been taught equally by their inspiring examples of faith and testimonies of Christ. Ultimately, I think the best way I can show my faith is by showing love and patience toward my family members and to those I meet at work and school, and to not be ashamed to live what I believe!
