Hi I'm Mary Nielson

I was born in California, grew up in Scottsdale Arizona. I've been married "50 years". I'm "grandmary" and a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up as the oldest girl in a large family, I was given plenty of opportunities to learn to work. I started a home bakery when I was twelve, and made and sold 40 loaves of bread every Saturday. I learned to sew in Jr. High and designed and made all of my own clothes. I studied pattern design and tailoring in college.I worked as a model and as a commentator for fashion shows, and later started my own talent agency. My own children have been taught how to dress well on a tight budget, and how to be stylish and modest at the same time.

Why I am a Mormon

When my grandmother was 9 years old, she told her Minister that she would no longer pray, because her church taught that God was a Spirit....and if he were, then he had no ears to hear her. The Minister told her she was a naughty girl and she would never go to heaven. Many years later she learned that the Mormons believe that God has a Celestial body, and it rang true to her. Because of her faith, I am a member of the Mormon church today. I have my own reasons for believing: First, God has planted the seed of faith in my heart and I have nourished it. My faith has grown. I can feel it. I know it is true. Second: I've read and studied the words of God, and I know they are good. Third: I have applied the teachings of the Lord in my life and by living them, I know they are true. I have read the Book of Mormon many times along with the Bible and I know they are the words of God. My faith grows as I nurture it daily, and keep God's commandments.

How I live my faith

I believe in the divinity of Jesus Christ. My faith in him helps me with everyday decisions as I try to do what I believe he would do. His was a life of service, and mine should be also. I know I am happiest when I forget about myself and do something for the people around me.
