Hi I'm Kirsten!

I am a Proud Texan, Dessert Enthusiast, a Returned Missionary, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I LOVE Texas! (Who doesn't?) I also love to hike (which may or may not have been a big factor in me going to BYU Provo) Which brings me to my next point, I completed a year of schooling before I left on my mission! :) (Which also doesn't mean I know exactly what I want to major in yet...) I paint landscapes, and read as well. Movies are #1, especially Disney and Action. Humor is another big part of my life, I love to laugh. I have 4 siblings! Currently I am a missionary in the Ohio, Cleveland Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love God, and desire to follow him. He has blessed me so much. I am a Mormon because I am encouraged to find out for myself if the gospel is true through study and prayer. Learning for myself is very powerful to me, because I can find out for myself by praying and searching the scriptures, and do not have to rely on others for my faith. I love being close to my Savior and am able to rely on Him and follow His example. I feel that this Church is true and that it has helped me to become closer to Christ. I am a Mormon because I believe that God would not leave us without help, (and He hasn't!) and I know that we have modern-day prophets who receive revelation from God, and help us draw closer to our Savior. I am not perfect and I love my Savior, and because He suffered and died for our sins He understands us and knows us perfectly and individually.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being Christ-like to those around me. I live my faith by sharing it on social media. I live my faith by loving others, even if their beliefs differ from my own.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Kirsten!
Missionaries are sent out to share what we believe. They share a message about Jesus Christ, His love for them, and His sacrifice for all people. They invite others to grow closer to the Savior, and to build a more personal relationship with Him. They teach of the Plan of Salvation (also referred to as the Great Plan of Happiness) which allows us the opportunity to follow the example of Jesus Christ and to be able to return to live with Him in Heaven, and to be able to live with our families forever. Why was a Restoration of the Gospel needed? Haven’t we always had the Bible?

Kirsten!
So it all starts with the fact that God loves us so much that He gives us prophets, like Noah and Abraham and Moses, and these prophets help us draw closer to God and they have His authority. In the bible you see many times where people would listen to the prophets and accept what they had to say, but other times they would reject the prophets because what the prophets were saying was against their lifestyle at the time and they didn't want to change. So those turning away from the prophets are what we refer to as apostasy, so a turning away from God. Even Jesus Christ was sent to the earth and performed miracles and established a church. But He was rejected as well and after He was crucified and His apostles were cast out, God took His power off the earth. Amos testified that this would happen in Amos 8:11-12 It's kinda like someone dropped a window and it shattered. There were pieces of the truth everywhere but since God's power wasn't on the earth the full truth wasn't here. So there needed to be a restoration of Jesus Christ's gospel. The Bible helps us to draw closer to God and Jesus Christ but some parts were taken out and even changed over time. But as we read it with the Book of Mormon then it helps us put more of those pieces together and helps us to know even more of what we need to do to draw closer to God and Jesus Christ.
