Hi I'm Don

I grew up in Mississippi. I joined the Church at about age 16. I am a Mormon, and I love it!

About Me

I have 5 children and 6 grandchildren, and a lovely wife of 32 years. I love spending time with family, especially cooking, sharing meals, and making home made ice cream. I am a tool maker by profession, but currently work in tool engineering. I have been a volunteer scout leader for 30 years and love working with the scouts learning things. I enjoy dutch oven cooking especially.

Why I am a Mormon

Just before my 16th birthday my Dad passed away. My brother invited me to meet with missionaries from the church to learn about the purpose of life. While listening to the missionaries the Spirit of God touched my heart and convinced me that what they were teaching was and is true. I was soon baptized. My life changed for the better and I have been blessed for living the gospel. My children have grown up in a gospel-centered home and live exemplary lives. What more can one ask for in life?

How I live my faith

A ward is a local congregation of church members. A stake is a group of wards that are affiliated in a geographical region. I currently serve in the stake young men's organization. I get to travel to visit young men and their leaders in the local wards to give training and encouragement when needed. I also help plan and carry out activities for the young women and young men in our area. Each month I visit a different ward in our stake. On these visits I am usually invited to speak in the worship service. I often serve my community by doing things to help people in times of need. I have traveled several times to help with hurricane and tornado clean-up efforts.
