Hi I'm Bob

I grew up in La Canada Flintridge, CA. After high school I served in the Marine Corps. I am a Mormon.

About Me

After high school I joined the Marine Corp. When I got out I work various jobs including being a special effects fabricator and a freelance graphic designer. I went to college pretty late and earned a bachelors degree in Global Management from ASU in 2006. I am still serving my country in the Department of the Treasury. I have been a Scout Leader for 27 of the last 30 years and Scouting is what brought me to the Church. My wife and I were attending an intensive training course with the Scouts called Woodbadge when we attended a LDS service. We became interested in the church and as we learned more we became convinced that this was the church we should attend.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the Church because much of the doctrine matched my own beliefs. I did not grow up attending church and my sole religious exposure was nondenominal services with the Scouts. I attended various church services with friends when I was growing up but none of the resonated with me for various reasons. I joined the church because it does not exclude nonmembers from heaven, does not use guilt as a method of control, and is very family centric. Families are at the center of the church and all the activities are family oriented.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others, as I said I am a Scout leader and am involved with a couple of troops. I am still serving my country as a civilian employee and my wife and I are helping an elderly neighbor with various tasks like helping her get to her doctors appointments, help with shopping, and my boys help out with caring for the house and yard.

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

The Holy Ghost can give us guidance if we listen carefully. We have taught our children this concept and on more than one occasion they have listened and have avoided making a bad decision or trouble. Show more Show less
