Hi I'm Brett

I'm from Emery County Utah where I met my future wife. I love sports and am studying accounting at BYU and I'M A MORMON.

About Me

I'm a Junior in college studying accounting. All my life I have loved sports of every kind - even curling! I come from the rural area of Emery County, Utah. Although coming from a small town, I love to travel and love the big city. I served a two year mission centered in Leeds, England and have recently been back to visit. I am the oldest of seven children and have been married for one year to my best friend who I met in high school seven years ago. Some of my favorite things are tailgating parties at college football games, water parks, and singing aloud to "DON'T STOP BELIEVING" (much thanks to my wife for putting up with that). Transcending all of this is my love for the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I believe that God is our loving Heavenly Father. He will always speak to his children through the power of prayer. I believe that He is involved in our lives and loves us perfectly. We can receive direction, courage, and comfort from Him as we follow his commandments. I believe God gives us commandments through ancient prophets as recorded in the Bible and The Book of Mormon as well as through modern day prophets and apostles. I know that God the Father and His Son Jesus Christ appeared to a young boy named Joseph Smith and called him to be a prophet in these modern times. Through Joseph Smith, Christ brought back the fullness of His gospel which had been lost after centuries of confusion and misinterpretation of scriptures. The Lord continues to reveal his will through a prophet today named Thomas S. Monson. One of the great truths of Christ's gospel is that if we are obedient to God's commandments, we can be joined as family units for eternity and go back to our Heavenly Father. Through sacred ordinances in Mormon Temples, husbands and wives can be married not just "as long as they both shall live" but for eternity. We have the promise that death will not separate us from our loved ones as long as we strive to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I know from experience that true happiness can be found when we build our lives around the Savior and His teachings. Even when we may not understand why He gives us certain commandments, we can be certain that He wants us to feel eternal joy and happiness.

How I live my faith

I currently am a Sunday School President in my local church. I help teach and arrange other teachers for Sunday School classes and find ways to encourage greater teaching and learning in a gospel setting. I spend time each day reading The Book of Mormon to find answers to questions and get inspiration for important decisions in my life. I love to read and listen to speeches by our church leaders and try to follow the guidance they give. I also love to visit LDS temples. I am inspired by their symbolic architecture and teachings.
