Hi I'm Gus O'Barr

Hi I'm Gus O'Barr and I am currently in the MTC to serve a mission in Argentina, Bahia Blanca

About Me

I like to snowboard play football and soccer and just be outside.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon Because ever since I was little I grew up in a small LDS family in a small town in Utah. I grew with very little knowledge of the outside world, but even in the town I lived in there was a lot of diversity and our family had many trials, but with our family's strong testimony and faith we were able to not only overcome our trials but to come out better, more loving, happy and stronger than we ever were before. So While I was little I was learning a lot already about faith and prayer. But little did I know my life was about to change drastically. When I was 9 years old our family moved to Maryland where I was the only member of the church in my school for most of the years I lived there, and it was very hard, people would ask me many questions I didn't understand and would constantly tease me for my beliefs to the point where it was more like bullying me. I was at my breaking point and had no idea what to do, but one night I remembered the trials our family had when I was younger and how if we prayed we got through our trials, and so that night I knelt down by my bed and prayed for help, because we (my family) had tried everything, and after I was done I received the strongest feeling of comfort and I knew that I didn't need to worry because everything would get better, and it did, I started making friends and good memories and I eventually moved back to Utah :) I love the church and I know its true, I'm so happy I was born into my wonderful family and if we put our trust in the lord we can overcome anything. That is why I am a Mormon, and I know it I live it and I love it.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by going to church weekly, helping my younger sister learn the gospel, and I am currently getting ready to serve a fulltime mission and have been called to Bahia Blanca Argentina.

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Gus O'Barr
Actually no, Our church does a lot to help many people who are not Mormons, we especially do a lot of humanitarian aid to help countries going through natural disasters, and people in need all around the world in other places. Plus all of our missionaries around the world are sent to help teach and serve people who are not members of the church, and try and help them to come closer to Jesus Christ. Show more Show less
