Hi I'm John

I grew up in Canada. There, I lived on my family farm. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was raised on a farm just outside a mostly LDS town of 2000 people. I'm known to be a bit of an optimistic person and very happy about life! I loved high school sports and was raised with 5 sisters. I love to waterski, hike, play basketball and hang out with my friends, family and extended family. But above all, I'm a Mormon!

Why I am a Mormon

I'm blessed and very lucky to have grown up in a loving family that was strong in teaching and living the gospel principles. I don't have an amazing converting story like some of the wonderful people I do know who have. But growing up, I'd learn a gospel principle, like "I am a child of God", and I would accept it and try to apply it into my life. As I progessed in my learning about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, I'd continue to learn new gospel principles and I'd try to apply them to my life. Understand I'm not perfect, I have had hard times where I've needed to go back and re-learn what I've been taught on more than one occasion. That's why I'm so greatful for the Atonment in my life! It is the way we can repent and come back to Christ. My conversion to the Gospel has been an ongoing process and because of that, it's led me to be the person I am today! The Gospel has blessed my life tremendously and I love it so much, and I want to share this same glad message to everybody, that's why I'm a Mormon! :)

How I live my faith

In my home town I served a variety of callings for youth leadership positions. I was taught that my duty was to help meet the needs of the individuals in my area by being thier friend and giving them rides to youth activities. With the young men my age we would go give the Sacrament to the older ladys in our ward who wern't able to attent church because they couldn't get out of the house. We would also have sacrement meeting at the local old folks home where the my fellow priests and I would bless and pass the sacrement. Also, my father and I would visit teach some the older ladys in our ward once a month to give them a monthly message and help meet their individual needs. It's always a lot of fun giving service with your family and friends and I enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends with the members in my area.

What is the Book of Mormon?

The Book of Mormon is another witness that Jesus Christ really lived, that He was and is God’s Son. It contains the writings of ancient prophets. One of these, Lehi, lived in Jerusalem around 600 B.C. God commanded Lehi to lead a small group of people to the American continent. There they became a great civilization. God continued to call prophets among these people. The Book of Mormon is a collection of the writings of their prophets and record keepers. It is named after Mormon, one of the last of these ancient prophets. These prophets knew about Heavenly Father’s plan for His children and the mission of Jesus Christ. They recorded that Christ appeared, after His Resurrection, to the people in America, taught them His gospel, and formed His Church among them. The book contains the teachings of Jesus Christ, testifying of His Atonement and His love. It supports and verifies the Bible. The Book of Mormon concludes with a great promise that those who read it and sincerely pray about it can know by the Holy Ghost that it is true (Moroni 10:4). Show more Show less
