Hi I'm Jason

Father, Banker, Ultra Runner. I am a Mormon.

About Me

First and foremost, I am a husband and Father. Second, I work for a local bank where we try to make our community a better place. Finally, I am an UltraRunner. I run marathon (26.2 miles) and longer races.

Why I am a Mormon

There is peace that comes from the Gospel of Jesus Christ. There is strength in knowing that God is our Heavenly Father and, as his child, He loves us. I am far from perfect and recognize that I need a Savior. I find that active participation in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints brings peace to my life and helps me stay on the path that I know I need to walk.

How I live my faith

I love to learn and teach the Gospel. I focus especially on the youth because I remember how hard it was for me when I was young to live what I knew to be right when it felt like everyone around me was doing what I knew to be wrong. I found strength from the scriptures and the examples of friends who shared similar beliefs. Even now, I turn to the Word of God when I feel depressed, hopeless or just need to get in touch with who I am. Church attendance is important. One reason I started running Ultra Marathons is because most Marathons are held on Sunday. I believe that when the Lord said, "Remember the Sabbath Day...Keep it Holy," He was not referring only to the people of ancient times but to our day as well. Ultra Marathons usually start on Saturday so I can run all day (and sometimes half the night) but still make it back in time for Church!

Are Mormons Christians?

I remember sitting in Church during a cross road of my life...one era had come to an end and another was about to begin. I started thinking of all the people that had influenced me and helped me up to that point: Parents, teachers, friends...names and faces flooded my mind. Then, everything went clear as I thought of the one who had done (and does) more for me than any other, my Savior, Jesus Christ. As I thought on His name I was overwhelmed by the love He feels for us and the importance of His role as my Savior and Redeemer. Show more Show less
