Hi I'm Kurt

I've been a Mormon all my life - and still am.

About Me

I am a 49 year old father of 4 great kids. I am married to a wonderful woman. I like to run (don't like it that much, but like that it keeps me in shape), vegitable garden, ride motorcycles, hike and play in the water, though there are only lakes nearby. I like to visit with neighbors and friends. I spend a little time looking after my mom who lives in another town (she is getting older), and chasing the kids around. I have three in college and that keeps us all pretty busy.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon home, so I was pretty much raised on the gospel of Jesus Christ. I knew from the time I was a little kid that this was pretty serious stuff and that I always ought to try to be the best kid I could. That feeling kind of evolved thru the years, but the basic premise has not. I like people, though I would not really call me a people person. I relate better to older people I think, but I really enjoy opportunities to work with youth and children too. Anyway, when I was a teenager, after a few typical rebellious years, I finally came to know for myself that the Gospel of Jesus Christ as taught by the Mormon church really is that 'thing' that filled voids in my life. If there was something that just did not make sense to me, the gospel would help to explain and make things fit together so that I could understand them. The Gospel I am referring to is quite simple, but it seems like we always try to chop it up and make it complicated. Through the years I have come to know and believe more firmly in basic gospel truths: that Jesus is the Christ and that He did suffer what the scriptures say he did; that there is also a God in heaven that loves every one of us; that the priesthood, or the power of god, is here on the earth again; that we have a living prophet and that he does receive inspiration from God; that miracles have not ceased and still happen today. I know that God is in our everyday lives and wants to help each of us. And I know that everyone on this earth can know these same things too.

How I live my faith

I have the opportunity to serve in the leadership of my church. They are great people. Part of my position has to do with spending time with the teenagers. They are so strong and faithful. God saved the best for these days. I also have opportunity to visit many of the homes in our neighborhood - that is a lot of fun. There are good people everywhere.
