Hi I'm Emma

I'm a Bay Area native. I love learning. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student who loves reading, music, singing, acting, playing the cello, swinging, watching movies, hiking, baking, learning, and British literature (which includes anything by Jane Austen and, of course, the Harry Potter series). I love going to sports games, concerts, shows, movies, and my classes. More than any of that I love just spending time with my family and my friends. Right now I am taking a break from school to serve as a missionary in the New York New York South Mission. I love and miss home, but I love having the chance to meet new people and share the gospel. The future is bright!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and as a kid I loved learning about Jesus Christ and I loved the church. When I hit my preteen and teen years, doubts started to set in. I couldn't rely on what my parents believed in without deciding for myself whether it was true. As I began seriously studying the Book of Mormon and applying what I learned in church to my daily life, I felt God's love for me deep inside. The Holy Ghost testified in my mind -- the church made so much logical sense -- and also in my heart -- by a sensation of love, joy, peace, and truth -- that Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, and this is His church. I love the church because it brings more peace, joy, and goodness into my life than anything else could. I'm a member of His church because I have struggled to know whether it is true, and found that it is. I firmly believe in this gospel, and that's why I'm a Mormon!

How I live my faith

My faith isn't one separate faction of my life; it's woven into everything I do and everything I am. How I live my faith pretty much boils down to keeping the two great commandments: love God and love your neighbor! Putting God first allows everything else in life to fall into its proper place. I have found that praying every day, reading the scriptures, and going to church keeps me close to God and helps me deal with all the challenges that life brings. It also gives me a moral compass to follow that has blessed me immensely throughout my life. My faith leads me to be kinder to others than I probably would be otherwise! The gospel gives me the perspective that family relationships really do last for eternity, so I try to do my part to strengthen those bonds! Basically, the gospel brings so much joy and so much more meaning into every aspect of my life: family, friendships, school, everything! Being a Mormon and having a knowledge of these things is the biggest blessing I could have in my life. That's why I'm on a mission sharing what I know with others!
