Hi I'm Tyler Westover

Grew up in Florida. Deferred my college education to serve a mission for my church. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I just graduated from a high school ranked 10th in the country with an International Baccalaureate certificate. In high school I played 4 years on the boys varsity soccer team and 2 years on the boys varsity volleyball team. I was an active member in both National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. Not only was I active in my school's activities, I was also involved in my community receiving both the bronze and silver Congressional medal. I have deferred my college education at Brigham Young University to serve a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Dallas Texas.

Why I am a Mormon

People may think that I am Mormon because my parents are. This may have been true at first but as I studied the scriptures, prayed and pondered the principles, I gained a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel for myself. The gospel makes sense. I know that we have a loving Father in Heaven that wants nothing more than for us to return and live with Him. Every commandment He gives us is to bless and benefit us. He does not restrict us, but gives us the freedom to make our own choices. It is because of His infinite love for us that He send His son, Jesus Christ to atone for our sins, making it possible for us to return home. Every single one of us has the same opportunity whether it is in this life or the life hereafter. I am happy when I follow the commandments. I love the way living the gospel makes me feel.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being an example to those around me. While in high school, I was on several varsity teams in which I served as captain for three different seasons. I maintained high standards of health and character and expected those on the team to do the same. Even though I had a very strenuous school work load, I attended church every Sunday and every day that school was in session I attended seminary (scripture study for an hour starting at 6 am.) I did that for my four years of high school. Currently I am serving in the group of men 18 years and up as the liaison between the members of the church and those investigating the church. In 13 days I will leave on my mission for the Church in Dallas Texas.
