Hi I'm Joshua

I'm a musician. I am a college student trying to get an education. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Joshua. I was born in Texas but have moved frequently during my younger years. I currently live in Utah where I am going to school. I have many questions about my future, particularly about what career to pursue. Currently I am a Biology major wanting to enter medical school, however I still don't know if it is the right decision to be a doctor. I have many other passions and interests especially with music. I am a musician. I love spending my time playing piano, drums or guitar. I also love working with people and seeing diversity in talents and skills. I am optimistic about my future, because I know that the Lord will guide me to help make the correct decisions that will bring me happiness.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I love Jesus Christ. I am a young teenager who has a lot of questions about life. I still have answers that I am searching for even though I am a Mormon. I am a member of this church because I receive answers to questions of the soul. I am a Mormon because even though it's hard living in this world, I feel the peace; the calm assurance that the Lord is helping me. I know that God is real. He is a infinite being with all power. I know He loves all His children. I have felt his love and his presence in my room where I pray. I am certain that there is a God, and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is His restored church. I know it. And I cannot deny it. I have read the Book of Mormon many times. I have read it along side the Bible and have received a witness that it is true. I believe in Jesus Christ; the same Christ that appeared to Moses on Mount Sinai, the Christ that was born of Mary in Bethlehem, the Christ that performed the Atonement, the resurrected Christ that lives today. I have no doubt that this is the Lord's Church on the earth today. I didn't always know. In the King James Bible John 7:17 states, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." I have done His will and know for myself that this church is of God. And it came forth through the prophet Joseph Smith, and that the everlasting Gospel is on the earth once more. I testify that these things are true. I testify that if anyone will read the Book of Mormon searching to know the truth, that God will show you through the Spirit that they are His words. I can feel his power and assurance that the book is true every time I read it. I testify that God loves his children and has provided the means to feel of his love through the Book of Mormon. In the name of Jesus Christ, Amen.

How I live my faith

In my ward, I am the organist. I love playing music and sharing the peace that music can bring to people. I was asked to be the organist when I was fifteen years old, and it was a surprise to me. I knew how to play the piano but had never received any instruction on how to play an organ. Every Sunday I would play the hymns without the addition of the pedals because I was intimidated. I had no idea how I would ever be able to match up to the other organists in my congregation. However, just like you learn a song after practicing, I began to become more comfortable using the pedals, and even composing my own arrangements of hymns for the prelude music. I am still grateful for the calling of ward organist. I am now nineteen and I'm still the organist. I know the Lord knew that I should be called as the organist when I was just fifteen. It taught me the principle that the Lord wants us to succeed. He knows what we need, and will help us become who we are supposed to become. I will use my knowledge of the organ for the rest of my life. I have seen the effect of music on thousands of people, and know the Lord gave me this gift. I am very lucky to have this Gospel which allows me to help people through the power and gift of music. It is something I have always loved. When I am able to play for others, I can feel the Spirit. It's amazing to have a gift like music, sports, painting or anything that brings joy to the heart. However, it's much more gratifying knowing that through my talents God has blessed his people. I am honored to have a calling in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints as the organist for my ward. I know that the Lord has blessed me with my talents and skills with music, and I am grateful I have the chance to give my service to show that I love Him.
