Hi I'm Bradley Downey

I've served health service missions to the islands of Tonga and Samoa. I now serve a full-time mission in Hawaii. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am from Colorado and was raised there most of my life. I have served two health service missions with my family to the islands of Tonga and Samoa. I earned and received my associate degree at the age of 17. I love to snowboard and be in the mountains. I love to play basketball along with almost any other sport. I am going on a mission to Hawaii Honolulu, and I report August 14, 2013, I return August of 2015!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon, or better stated: I am a Member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, which is the actual name of the Church, because of the moral values the Doctrine of Christ teachings and the blessings that come from living the Gospel of Jesus Christ! I was raised in a good LDS family, my parents taught me and my siblings the Gospel in our home. I always had a testimony of Prayer ever since I was a small child, I have had many experiences where God has reached out in love and answered my prayers! When I became old enough that the time came for me to stop living off of my parents faith and gain a testimony of my own my parents challenged me to read The Book of Mormon all the way through then to pray and ask God if it was true. I had read the Book of Mormon before, but not necessarily for the intent to ask God sincerely if it was true or not. I began reading, day after day, and eventually I came to the end of the book. There was a scripture that I read in Moroni 10:3-5. It states "....And when ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost. And by the power of the Holy Ghost ye may know the truth of all things." I was touched by the scripture, and I knew that if I prayed that God would answer my prayer. I knelt down, and I began my prayer, I asked Heavenly Father with all my heart to know if the things I had read where true, to know for myself if The Book of Mormon was true. When I closed my prayer I paused and then I felt something, it was an overwhelming feeling of love and peace! It overcame me and I started to cry, it was the Holy Ghost bearing witness to me that the book was true. I knew it, with all my heart I knew it! That is why I choose to be a latter-day saint!

How I live my faith

I live my Faith by serving those around me. I live in Hawaii now as a full-time missionary and it is a call to serve! I try my best to be an example of a follower of Jesus Christ. I do service for others whenever I can and to show Christ-like love to all! I go out everyday to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to others and Share the blessings of the Restored Gospel! I read and ponder daily upon the Scriptures and others words of the Prophets so that The Spirit of The Lord will be with me and will tell me what to say to others when they need to hear the Word of God. I LOVE being a missionary; sharing the restored gospel with others and seeing the joy and peace it brings into their lives brings me more happiness and joy than I have ever had!

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Bradley Downey
A testimony is a knowledge of Spiritual Truth given to a person through the divine witness of the Holy Ghost. A testimony is usually based on the knowledge that God is our loving Heavenly Father, That Jesus is the Christ, and that the fullness of the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored to the Earth through His living prophet. These key principles of a testimony are given to someone through the witness of The Holy Ghost, who is the Third member of the God Head. A person can gain a testimony of any spiritual truth by asking Heavenly Father in prayer in the name of Jesus Christ, and by acting upon ones faith. Show more Show less
