Hi I'm Layne

I grew up in Southeastern Idaho and am now pursuing a doctorate in political science. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a city boy from a town of 1000 people. I served a mission in Little Rock, Arkansas and I am a veteran of the United States Army. I am currently pursuing a PhD in political science at the University of Nevada Reno and currently hold degrees in criminal justice, political science and a Master's in political science. I have a daughter (7) from a previous marriage and my wife is currently expecting a son. We are both excited at the prospect of bringing one of God's children to this earth and look forward to raising him as a faithful disciple of Jesus Christ. I have been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints all my life and love the opportunity to share the restored gospel to my friends, neighbors, colleagues and classmates.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because being so gives me access to the purest teachings of Jesus Christ. We are blessed to have a prophet and apostles whose wisdom can guide us through difficult times. If you fear for the future or are concerned about the direction that our secular leaders and society are taking our world, take heed to the leaders of the Mormon Church because they are literally being guided by our Heavenly Father. Most of all, through this church I have a knowledge of Heavenly Father's plan for us, his children. Though times seem dark, we can be guided through — not just make it through — but prosper with peace in our hearts. I know that as you search this site, learn of this church and its teaching, you will perhaps find the thing or things that may have been missing from your and your family's lives. There are many negative things said about this church, but if you want to learn about it, ask a member. Hopefully we can help you see the blessings that we all enjoy.

How I live my faith

I see the world through my spiritual and religious eyes. Through the restored gospel and our prophet and apostles, we members of the Church have the opportunity to see troubling events and put them in their proper context of God's plan for this earth. I believe in treating people as Christ would treat them although I often fall short of His standard. I know that everyone on this earth is a child of God and that we should treat each other as literal brothers and sisters. Mostly, I now know that through Christ's atonement, we all have the opportunity to continue to improve ourselves, our attitudes and our lives. I try to live my life as if every day can be the best yet. I am so optimistic because of my faith that our Heavenly Father is in ultimate control of the world and that if we keep His commandments, He will guide us to the places, people and experiences that will ultimately lead us to eternal life.
