Hi I'm Carlin

I'm a nerd who loves playing sports. I love the outdoors, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a the 5th child of a family of 9. I live in the middle of nowhere. To one side of my house, I have a neighbor, to the other is miles and miles of mountains. I consider myself to have lived an active high school experience. I love sports. I played soccer, golf, football, and I wrestled. I learned trombone. I sang in a choir. I learned to love my classmates, my teachers, and my school. I campaigned for Student Body Officer, and attained the position of Vice-President. I participated in multiple clubs and events and always tried my best.. Throughout it all, I knew my grades mattered a lot, for myself at the time, and for my chances of scholarships in the future.I did all I could do and maintained, a 3.99 GPA. That .01 points off perfection will haunt me forever. After I serve a mission, I will attend college. What do I want to become? I have no clue, but that won't stop me from trying for a higher education.

Why I am a Mormon

Choices are what define who we are, and I wish I could say I have always made the right ones, but I haven't. I'm not a perfect person by a long shot, I know and that fact bore down on me for too long. I didn't know what to do with myself, or how to feel better. I was lucky enough to be born into this wonderful church, so I figured I knew where to look. I prayed and prayed, and studied, and learned from the scriptures and other Church talks. It wasn't in an instant, but gradually I came to realize how amazing the Atonement that our Lord, Jesus Christ, payed for us. I learned that through Him, we really can be cleansed. That through His sacrifice, I really could feel better. That is what truly made me believe in The Church of Jesus Christ of Ladder-day Saints. The fact that I could live in imperfect life, and still be brought back to perfection. I know that my Savior does live, and did truly die, so that we could live again through Him. I know it, because I've lived it.

How I live my faith

I have always tried to do my part, in my school, in my town, and in my church. As a member of my family, giving service is expected, even when you aren't asked. I help my community in celebrations, in cleanup, and in whatever else I see that they need. The Church has a number of different callings, and many of them I didn't even know existed. Still, every time my bishop or branch president has asked, I have tried to fulfill all that they require. I served as a leader in two quorums or groups, and am currently a primary teacher. Right now, I am preparing for a mission that I will soon leave to serve in. I wish that was as easy as spreading butter on my toast in the morning, but it isn't. I try to learn more about The Gospel by studying my scriptures, attending church, and saying prayers whenever I can. I know my Lord can hear me when I talk to Him, and I know He truly does care.
