Hi I'm Amanda

I am a SoCal native. I have been married three years and we have one beautiful Daughter. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have lived in Southern California my whole life. My husband and I were married 3 years ago in the Los Angeles Temple. I worked in the Deaf Community for seven years. I was an aide, teacher, interpreter, health education instructor/ curriculum developer, and then a job counselor. I changed my career to stay at home mom when my beautiful daughter was born. So far being a mom is my favorite job! As a family we love off roading, jet skiing, swimming, ATVs, shooting, and camping. We also enjoy doing things with our friends and family and visiting new places!

Why I am a Mormon

My family have been members since the beginning of the church. I was born and raised in the church. That being said, I still had to make the decision myself to continue to live the principles I had been taught. I have learned for myself that when I study the scriptures, pray, attend church, and try to follow Christs example, I am my happiest. In the Book of Mormon it says "men are that they might have joy.". I truly believe that the gospel is what brings my family and I that joy. As I read the scriptures and sing hymns to my daughter I can feel that joy that come from knowing that we are daughters of God. I know when I choose to follow what I have been taught I am becoming a better person and that brings joy too!

How I live my faith

The best part about our ward is that there are several young couples like us that have only been married a few years and have 0-2 kids. We have BBQs, Rockband parties, and play dates. I have made a lot of friends through visiting teaching. It gives me an opportunity to become friends with women I wouldn't normally hang out with, usually because they are older than me but we are good friends now. I worked with the children and the youth. It was wonderful to get back to basics as I taught them the principles of the gospel. I loved watching little four year olds open their scriptures and retell stories they knew and to hear them sing hymns. You can really see the light that the gospel brings in the lives of little children.
