Hi I'm Robert D. Keyes

I grew up in Utah. I am an MBA, spent many years as a Financial Controller, have taught Accounting, and am a Mormon.

About Me

As a child my family moved to New Zealand to work on a church project there. We returned to Utah when I was 12. My mother passed away when I was 16, and from then on I was mostly on my own for my care. At age 19 I served a 27 month mission to Uruguay, and learned and can speak Spanish. After my mission I went to school at BYU for a time. While I was at BYU I danced with the BYU International Ballroom Teams. I then went to serve in the US Army during the Vietnam crisis. When my tour of duty was over, I returned to the Ogden, Utah area and married by sweetheart, Marilyn Lundell. We settled in the North Ogden area and raised a family of four boys and one girl. We lost our only girl when she was seven to lukemia. However, after our boys were mostly out of the nest, we got recruited in Foster Care. We served twelve years as Foster Parents, and during that time adopted two girls from the system into our family. Currently I am serving as a Senior Missionary for the Church with my sweetheart. We labor in the Mission Office of the Florida Tampa Mission. We now have 20 grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

I read the Book of Mormon when I was about 18, followed Moroni's promise in the last chapter and asked God if it came from Him, and received a confirmation that I cannot deny. As a missionary I had several communications with God that what I was doing in teaching people about Jesus Christ, His mission, His Atonement, and His resurrection, was what God wanted me to do. I know that God knows who we are and is fully aware of us and our needs. He is our Father in Heaven, literally, and we are His spirit children, and He loves us. I know of the power of the Priesthood that I hold in God's church. I sincerely hope that when I see Him again, face to face, that I will have the Name of His Son, Jesus Christ, written upon my heart. And, I know that the Book of Mormon is the Word of God, and is a companion scripture to the Bible in testifying of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

Over the years I and my wife have served in many important callings in the Church. We as a family have tried diligently to have a family night every week with our children, and read from the scriptures daily as a family and individually. Family is very important to us, and we treasure our time with our children and our grand children. Our family, in particular, is very musical. We have a Grand Piano in our home, and it is played and sung around often. We love the Lord and are grateful to be able to serve him in any capacity that He needs us to serve.
