Hi I'm Bob M.

I grew up in Texas and moved to Grand Junction, CO after serving in the U.S. Army. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am an insurance claims adjuster. I enjoy playing online video games such as World of Warcraft and League of Legends. I am married and I have three children and five grandchildren.

Why I am a Mormon

My wife grew up as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. When I first met her, I told her, "No matter what, you are not ever going to get me to become a Mormon!" She said she was fine with that and never pushed me in any way towards the Church. She did invite the missionaries over from time to time, because she liked to talk to them about their work and the Church. Several years later, I was having serious problems in my life and marriage, directly due to severe alcoholism. I began to listen and participate in the missionary lessons, and began to read the Book of Mormon. The Spirit moved me to understand that the Book of Mormon was true, and I decided I wanted to become a baptized member of the Church. The missionaries told me that I would need to abstain from both drinking and smoking for at least two weeks before I could become baptized. I prayed for strength to be able to do this, and Heavenly Father answered my prayer. I put down the bottle and the cigarettes that day, and haven't touched either since. I know this Church is the true Restored Church of Jesus Christ, and we are led by our prophet and revelator, Thomas S. Monson. I know that Christ lives, and that Heavenly Father has a Plan for our Salvation. I say these things in the name of our Blessed Redeemer, Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I am the Ward Mission Leader for my ward. This means I work with the full-time missionaries (the young men on the bikes), as well as members of the ward who also help with the missionary effort (Ward Missionaries). I go along with our missionaries as we teach the Gospel of Jesus Christ to both people who are interested in the Church (investigators) as well as less active members of the Church. I also work with the missionaries and the Ward leadership to try to increase the missionary and service opportunities in our Ward.
