Hi I'm Jamie

I'm a mother, wife, and daughter of God first in my life. I run a non-profit to support families with sick kids. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of three beautiful children, one of which passed away from serious illness at the age of 9 and a half months of age. Watching my children grow up is one of the best blessings I have experienced in life so far. My husband and I both enjoy running and work together serving in a non-profit we started in our daughter's memory. Reading is my favorite thing to do with alone time and baking cupcakes brings me joy!

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints when I was 20. I was attending college at the time and my now husband invited me to learn more about the faith that he grew up in. I was very active in my faith and agreed to learn about his faith, so that I could better understand him, but said that I would not be changing my faith. I began learning about this church and everything that the missionaries taught me simply made sense. I felt a special feeling (which I now know was the influence of the Holy Ghost) when they taught me the different principles of the gospel that were an integral part of this faith. Everything that they taught me made sense to me and I prayed to know of it's truthfulness, particularly the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon, and received a response through a joyous feeling that I knew it to be true. I joined the church through baptism and have continued to learn and grow since that time. It is truly a gift in my life that has changed me into the person that I am today. I was not a bad person when I joined the church. I was someone with good values and my life was decent, but the joy that I saw in the families within the church had something different about it. I now have that same joy and indescribable peace in my daily life and it is delicious. Our life is far from perfect. We have challenges that have included the death of a child to the regular bumps that life brings us and we know that our membership in the church won't make our challenges go away, but it does bring us tremendous peace despite trials and hardships because we know and allow Jesus Christ to be by our side in the midst of the storms of life.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by focusing each day on who I can best serve and pray for guidance to be led to those who might need me that day. Sometimes it's sharing a smile and other days it's listening to someone who is experiencing a great life trial. I've learned that you simply never know what the Lord has in store. Reading my scriptures brings power into my life and prepares me to know the things the Lord intends to teach me. I rely on them for guidance and know that the Lord will provide me all that I need to know and learn if I but seek. The scriptures are one of the ways, along with prayer, that lead me closest to my Heavenly Father. I have the opportunity to teach a Sunday School class for adults and it gives me greater opportunity to read more in the scriptures and learn things that I may not have sought out on my own. I really enjoy teaching among those that share my faith and the experience of lifting each other spiritually each week when we meet together. I have women that I am asked to look after through a program called visiting teaching. I am grateful most for it because I grow to love the women that I serve and it has brought many friendships into my life with women of different ages and backgrounds that I may not have been able to have friendships with otherwise. We strive to bring one another spiritual messages each month while also making sure temporal needs are met for one another. It's one of my favorite things to do in the church. Living my faith is something I strive to do each day, and not a Sunday only activity. My faith is what most defines my life and the purpose that I have within it. I am here to become the woman that Heavenly Father knows that I can become and that happens when I follow His teachings in faith and strive to help my family do that as well by having family prayer, family scripture study, family home evening and simply being there and loving one another.
