Hi I'm Tanner

I'm from American Fork, Utah. I'm a soccer fan and a music junkie. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is Tanner and I like to party. I left behind my incredible family, Beto's breakfast burritos, and hashtags to serve among the people of the Philippines for 2 years. Soccer is my sport. I was a goalkeeper for my high school soccer team and also played in futsal and other leagues during the off-season. When I wasn't on the pitch, I enjoyed longboarding, ping pong, and old school video games. Cultural activities and recreation in the mountains are some of my favorite ways to spend my time. I wear my granddad's clothes. I do not, however, look as incredible as he does. I've always had a stirring passion for schooling. Subjects across the board interest me. The diversity of learning that can be acquired in this life is a blessing from our Heavenly Father and compliments His omniscience. I know that the knowledge and experience we obtain here on earth will accompany us for eternity as we become like Him. I am looking forward to furthering my education at BYU after my mission. I was privileged to be a part of different music programs in high school from choir to garage bands, performing anything from Handel to The Who. I owe these opportunities to my mother's constant reminders to practice piano. My interests reside in the pursuit of an eclectic music collection, living and sharing the gospel, and strengthening my relationships with others.

Why I am a Mormon

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints has been part of my life since birth because my parents are members. This doesn't mean that growing up in the church was easy. I need conversion just as much as the next guy. Since early childhood, I have had the choice to live and learn the gospel. I believe that being a Mormon is more than just going to church once a week. The opportunities to serve and show our faith are endless! Heavenly Father expects our best. Nothing more, nothing less. I am grateful to know that no matter what capacity I have been called to serve in, I can magnify my responsibilities and be blessed as a result. Because of Heavenly Father's plan for us, I can see better the big picture. This gives me the hope to keep plodding along. This church is for everyone, which is why I've chosen to serve a full-time mission. I know The Book of Mormon will bring Heavenly love and power into your life the instant you begin to read and ponder the contents of its pages. I encourage you to ask to know for yourself that this wondrous gospel is for you. You will know. The way has been established... Try it out!! I echo the words of our Savior and His prophets, to "come and see".

How I live my faith

I served as a pianist for our ward choir that sang as part of our worship services once a month. I also played piano in church a number of times in solo and duet settings. The power and beauty of the hymns of the church have been impressed upon me on many occasions, testifying of their sacred nature and aptitude to convey God's love to our hearts and remind us of Heaven. I regularly visited certain members of my congregation with another priesthood holder as a companion in order to serve them and ensure that they felt loved. I fulfilled similar responsibilities while serving in my callings in groups of young men from age 12-18. I found joy in singing with a group of friends at a rest home in my community. The residents seldom had visitors or entertainment. Our purpose was to not only provide those two things, but to help them feel a portion of God's love through music and any other service we were capable of giving. It's hard to match the joy that service brings. I grew to love those I served as well as those I served with. Now, I've been called to invite others to come to know our Savior, Jesus Christ, in the Philippines. All that I do is only possible because of Him.
