Hi I'm Abbi Harris

I am a Art History Student. Called to serve a mission in Sao Paulo West Brazil and I grew up in Virginia.

About Me

I love music. There is an emotion and feeling that can only be found in music. I love to play guitar and sing. Growing up in Virginia was such a blast. The nature and trees are so beautiful. Journal writing is my therapy and outlet to shut the outside word out. I was home schooled my whole life. This was a different kind of experience because all of my friends I made through church. I had so many different opportunities from being home schooled. Not many people can say they went on a field trip to Walmart and did math in their pajamas. I am a student at Brigham Young University and studying art history. My dream is to one day work in the Smithsonian curating beautiful pieces of artwork. I recently received the call to serve a mission in Sao Paulo West, Brazil. This call was a shock to me because I have no language experience. I am excited and ready to serve the people of Brazil.

Why I am a Mormon

I had the privilege of growing up in the LDS church. The gospel was taught to me at a young age. This was a blessing but that does not mean I did not question my faith. At one point I had to pray and ask my Heavenly Father if the gospel was true. I got the answer that it is. I cannot image life without it. How can I not know of my purpose. There are all these questions I have that can be answered in the Book of Mormon. I have had trails in my life that help me to know that there is life after this. Families can have the opportunity to be together forever. It is hard sometimes to get along with all of my 6 siblings. But I could not imagine not being with them for all eternity. My mother has taught me to trust my Savior. If I have a question all you have to do it pray. Your prayer will be answered. I have read the Book of Mormon. It is a true book. It is another testament of Jesus Christ. One of my favorite things to do is go to the temple. There I can do work for my ancestors and shut out the world. It is a sacred house of the Lord. This life is a glorious opportunity for proving. I love that in the gospel I find happiness. I can find peace when looking at the stars or standing on the top of a mountain. Overlooking the valley below and knowing that I have the opportunity for so much more. I can be with Jesus Christ again. I am a daughter of God. I can live with him again if I follow his teachings. I have no idea how to live without the knowledge that I am destined for greatness. I am a mormon and I love it!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving in a Family Home Evening calling in my young single adult branch. It is so fun to plan and prepare for activities on family night. These activities bring us closer together and help us to have fun. I love to spend time with those who have the same standards and morals I do. The happiness that the game or lesson I taught helps me to know that everyone is having fun. I will soon give up a year and a half of my life to serve a full time mission in Brazil. This will be a challenge. But I know with my Heavenly Fathers help I can share the gospel with others.
