Hi I'm Elder Parley Gentry

I am 19 and the youngest of seven kids. I like sports, school, friends, camping, hiking, church, and learning and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am the youngest person in my immediate Family. Currently, I am serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints. I have been called to serve in the Brazil Santos Mission, but my visa hasn't come in yet so I Will probably get a temporary reassignment in a week or two. In high school, I played football for four years, and did track for three. I hope to throw discus in college after serving this mission. I love jokes and making people laugh. I am an Eagle Scout. I enjoy Camping, fishing, hanging out with friends, eating, and being with my family. I hope to go to College to study archaeology. I like most types of music, but Primary music is probably the best.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I prayed to know if the church is true. I prayed to know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and the Savior of the world. I prayed to know that Joseph Smith was a Prophet of God and that the Book of Mormon is true. I prayed to know whether or not I should serve a mission and I prayed to know that we have a prophet today. I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ, I can have eternal life. I prayed about these Things to know that they are true and I received an answer that these things are true. I am more happy when I keep the commandments than when I don't. I have been a member of this Church my whole life, but I did not have this testimony until I knelt down and prayed for the knowledge. I am weak by myself, but through Christ I am strong. Being a member of his Church, I have learned the best way to live is Christ's way. By following and keeping the Commandments, I have found happiness. I am Glad that I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

Right now, I am serving a two year mission for the Church. I wanted to serve a mission because I want to share the joy and truthfulness which I have found by being a member to others. I like participating in service projects and helping others. When I was in high school, I would get up early and go to early morning Seminary which is a scripture study class. I study the scriptures every day and I feel the blessings I receive from it. I try to live my life in a way that I can always feel the Spirit, because it makes me feel happy and peaceful. when I am happy, I can then help brighten up other peoples day!
