Hi I'm Emily Jarvis

I always have a smile on my face. I love the Midwest. I have a passion for quoting Disney movies. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a fun loving 20 year old. I am the oldest of 2. I am currently studying for my undergraduate degree. I am a singer, and a get up and dance kind of girl. I believe that a smile and laughter can cure ANYTHING! I am a little girl at heart. I love going and trying something new! I love the beach, and the ocean waves. I love traveling (even though I haven't traveled much).

Why I am a Mormon

I've always grown up Mormon. I went through the motions of being a Mormon, without truly understanding why the rules were in place. I would bend the rules so I could fit in, or feel accepted. But I always felt even more out of place, not as happy, and I could feel an empty void and I didn't know what to fill it with. I learned what was missing for me was the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost brings comfort, he teaches, and he helps you understand things. I had wonderful teachers who taught me the principles for the rules, and how the rules are there to keep you safe, and the rules became less as a burden for me, because I was beginning to understand the whys. I felt in-powered and confident to live the rules. And it wasn't as hard as I thought. As I did this, my life seemed easier. The troubles in my life whether it was: school, family, or friends, they seemed to be lighter than before. I was always happy, most of the time for no reason. I had more life in me. I loved the person who I was becoming. And it was because I was living in a way that allowed me to feel the most happy. Being a Mormon isn't just going to church on Sundays, or following strict rules that seem outdated, its a way of life. If you take the time to learn the whys of what we do, and what we believe, Mormons aren't very different from most people. Everything we do is for a family to be together forever.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? I just try and be myself. I've recently graduated from High School, where a lot of my friends did not share the same faith I did. I lived the values that the Church of Jesus Christ teaches, such as Integrity, Charity, loving one another, hard-work, etc. Because I lived the way I did, my friends respected me, because I was different. They could see that I was always happy and it was contagious. My friends are still members of their individual faiths, but we grew closer because of the understanding of my morals and why I lived the way I lived. I am currently teaching the children at Church. I teach them the basic fundamental truths of what we believe. I want my kids how to be examples of good people. I want them to be even better than I was to my friends. I am also preparing to serve a full-time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It is a wonderful opportunity to tell friends about what I will be doing for a year and a half, and how I will be able to touch many peoples lives through service, love, and helping them find joy and happiness through Jesus Christ. And telling them that He knows and cares for you, He is always there, you just have to turn to him.
