Hi I'm Shawna

I grew up in a small town in New Mexico. I love sports and being with my family. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student, and i decided to take a break from college to go on my mission and I am so glad that I am. I love running, and playing basketball, they are my two favorite sports. Learning new things is one of my favorite things to do especially when I am board. I am a huge family person and i love playing card games and board games with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because My whole family is members and I grew up in the church. I have had to find out if this is the truth or not, by reading the scriptures and praying for answers. I have even had struggles in my life, and I don't understand why I was struggling in the first place. I have chosen to stay a member because I know it's true and everytime I go to church my week is good. Every time I read my scriptures my day is better than if I don't. I can feel the spirit bring peace to my mind when things go wrong and I am scared or upset. I know that the Lord watches over me and guide me through my hard times, and that as long as I follow him he will always be there.

How I live my faith

I go to church every Sunday, it seems to help smooth out the rest of my week. While at church I usually just participate in the lessons and sacrament, unless I am asked to teach the real young kids. They bring so much joy into my life that I love it when I am asked to teach them and to spend that time with them. I have always lived in a small town and when I was in High School I was the only LDS member there so i've had to really work to keep my standards known to my friends and the kids around me. There were times when I had to walk away from my friends and teammates because I didn't feel comfortable with what was being talked about or with what was happening. It is really hard to live the gospel in a small town like mine, but it is worth it and I am so glad that I have stood up for what I believed all my life.
