Hi I'm Bill Chambers

I'm from Northern California. I served in the Air Force as a weather forecaster, and now a Realtor. I am a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a father of 8, and grandfather of 5. The last child of 5 born to my parents I served my country as a crew chief mechanic on fighter aircraft and later as a weather forecaster. I have just began a new career in Real Estate, and am looking at using my tools to learn Gunsmithing. I also like to garden, do genealogy work, and read good and educational books.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in this Church. But my conversion came after a few years, teenage years, of drugs and alcohol use and almost abuse. I joined the military and was at my first duty station when I knew I had gone too far. One night as I prepared to use some drugs, a voice spoke to me and said "If you use it, I will leave you!" It wasn't loud or unusual, but direct. I was quickly distracted that I needed to turn up the volume of the music I was listening too. As the drug began to have the desired effect, I thought back on the voice and the warning that it would leave me. It was then that I knew who spoke to me! I had been given the gift of the Holy Ghost, and had felt His influence, even during those times that I began to make wrong choices. But now He spoke a warning and I knew it! As I began to ponder this warning, I began to notice that the floor began to appear as a fluid. A dark liquid, and it began to rise, I struggled with conflicting thoughts that it was the drugs playing with my mind, and would go away. It continued to rise and with its increase in depth, I could hear voices. As it filled my room, I began to recognize what was being said. I heard, "Your mine, your never going to get away!" Now in a pool of darkness, thinking, what I had done, how can I get away. I thought about my Heavenly Father and the Savior and tried to look up, but was being physically restrained. I pleaded in my mind, I said, I don't want this, I want to be with my Heavenly Father! At that thought the pool or darkness dropped to my ear level and again the voice spoke, "The only way to return to your Father, is to beg for forgiveness!" I poured out my soul to my Heavenly Father for forgiveness and was blessed with a sober mind from that minute and directed to set my life in order. I know that the Holy Ghost prompted me to repent and that the Savior came into my barracks room and rescued me. It has been 35 years, and I look forward to seeing the Savior come to rescue all.

How I live my faith

I have served mostly with children and youth in Primary and Young Men's and spent a number of years in the Scouting program. I have also served as the Mission Leader at both Branch and Ward level and have a great love for those young men who serve. I have had the opportunity to provide assistance to the communities of Albany GA. and Pascagoula MS, after storm and flooding destroyed portions of those areas. Living in Florida, I have seen first hand the need to be prepared to weather the storms of both life and spirit. I love to sing and have participated in a number of choirs and productions. My Mother instilled in me a desire to search for my ancestors, learning about how they lived and drawing closer to them. I Believe in Christ, He is my King!
