Hi I'm Marie

I like big brands, tall buildings and very large bowls of ice cream.

About Me

I'm an advertising enthusiast, a sucker for pretty buildings, and a total nerd. I'm fairly obsessed with social media. Tweeting, pinning, and blogging are some of my favorite pastimes. I like discovering new places and meeting new people. Harry Potter was my entire childhood.

Why I am a Mormon

I haven't had to struggle the way that so many others have to find the gospel. But I've had my own challenges of faith. And I've seen the atonement work miracles in my life and the lives of those closest to me. Its not just for sins--not that I want to diminish the atonement's power to wash us clean of our misdeeds--because its such a beautiful relief to feel that cleansing power work in our lives. But I think we sometimes forget that the atonement can ease all of life's burdens. Not just the ones we inflict upon ourselves. But the ones that come as a product of mortal life: sickness, heartache, death, indecision, failure. Through the atonement Christ understands what we're going through personally and completely. He's the only person who can ever understand what we'll experience in this life. He doesn't just relate: He knows. If I know anything in this life, I know that. This gospel has changed my life in ways that I can't even begin to describe. It's made my life so much richer and fuller. It's given me real purpose and real joy. And that's something that I hope I can share.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith by really getting to know and love the people around me. Part of the way that I accomplish that aim is by organizing a weekly get together for the young single adults in my church. We start off with a spiritual thought given by one of the members and then participate in an activity whether that be volunteering within the community, playing paint twister, or going to the local Braum's for ice cream. This weekly get together is so important for building friendships and faith. We can only lift others and in turn be lifted by them when we establish a relationship of trust with them. So I hope that I've helped to build lasting relationships because so often the Lord often meets our needs through other people. Another way I live my faith is by sharing it. I believe in sharing what's good. Whether that means sharing personal triumphs with close friends, pinning my new favorite artist, or tweeting all about the hole in the wall, start-up restaurant I went to last week. And I think that it can be just as simple with faith. My faith in Jesus Christ has changed me for good. It has become an anchor to my soul. And in a world as crazy as this one: I need that. And I know that I'm not the only one, so I'm going to do what I can to spread that around.
