Hi I'm Chelsea

I am a student. I am an artist. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a university student studying to become a nurse. I was so excited when I was accepted into the nursing program at my school because I had a deep, profound feeling that this is what the Lord wants me to study and to become. I love and care about the people I meet and want to do anything that I can to help them. Being a student is hard because college classes require a lot of work, effort, and sacrifice. I work a couple of different jobs and study for many hours a day. Despite all of the demands that are being thrown at me constantly, I still find time to live my faith and to do the things that I enjoy. I love music. I always have. I play the piano and the violin whenever I get the opportunity. One of my favorite things to do is to play musical numbers in our church meetings. The feelings of love and peace that come as we listen to sacred music are just amazing. Music has changed my life and helps me to fully express myself in ways that words simply cannot. I also love to draw and to paint. Though I am not professional by any stretch of the imagination, visual art is another way that I can express my love and gratitude to God for all that He has blessed me with. My absolute favorite thing, however, is my family. I love them with all of my heart. I love to spend time with my family and I am so grateful for the knowledge that I can be with them for eternity through the blessings of the temple!

Why I am a Mormon

Why am I a Mormon? Because I choose to be. I was born and raised being taught the Gospel of Jesus Christ and I have a very strong testimony of the truthfulness of all I've been taught. I know that Christ did indeed come down from Heaven, gained a mortal body, grew to manhood, and lived His entire life as an example of how we all should live our lives: with humility, love, and sacrifice. He is perfect and I know that by living by the teachings of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, because they teach the words of Christ, I too can one day become perfect, even as Jesus. Being a Mormon brings me the greatest joy imaginable! I could not even begin to express how much love, peace, and happiness I feel in my heart because of the things I have been taught in this wonderful church! When I make an effort to live principles I have been taught (honesty, humility, hard work, sacrifice, diligence, the list goes on and on), I feel as though the burdens placed on me from outside influences, such as school and work, are made lighter. They never go away, but I feel a greater strength and confidence to face the challenges of each and every day. That is why I am a Mormon. My testimony of our Savior, Jesus Christ, is what gives me the strength and stamina to live each and every day in this world that doesn't think God is important or needed. I know without a doubt that I need God in my life each and every day. The things that I have learned by being a Mormon have taught be so many things about the true nature of God and how I can best live to be worthy of one day returning to His presence when my life here on Earth is through. I am so grateful for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the knowledge and comfort the Gospel brings into my life each and every day!

How I live my faith

I absolutely love the Gospel of Jesus Christ and all of the blessings that my testimony brings into my life! I am so incredibly blessed with a wonderful life with absolutely wonderful people to share it with! Things are not always perfect and I too have my struggles, but I try my hardest to react to every circumstance and situation with humility and gratitude, as the Savior would. I keep a prayer in my heart at all times, asking the Lord to protect me and my family in our various endeavors. I often express gratitude to my Father in Heaven for the many things he blesses me with each and every day! Expressing gratitude for even the simplest things, like extra time with my family or a sweet text from a friend, brings me the greatest joy imaginable! Humility is also a wonderful way to remain close to the Savior. I know that as I strive to live humbly, acknowledging that I am merely a servant and a means by which the Lord can bring to pass His work, my life and everything in it appears to be that much better and brighter. Christ is the Light of my life and of the world - He truly is the focal point and the purpose. So long as I follow His example and obey the instructions of my parents and Church leaders, I am happy and filled with love each and every day of my life!

What blessings can we receive through the gift of the Holy Ghost?

Chelsea
The Holy Ghost has been a great blessing in my life! I know that when we are living a clean, worthy life, the Holy Ghost can be our constant companion to guide us and direct us down paths that meet our needs and allow us to be a positive influence in the lives of others. Another name for the Holy Ghost is the Spirit because of his ability to help us and comfort us at all times, in all places, and in all situations/circumstances, so long as we are living in a way that allows his influence to be present. We don't have to be perfect to receive the Holy Ghost and His guidance, but we do have to be striving to live so that we can hear and recognize his influence. I have been blessed with guidance from the Holy Ghost in choosing which college to attend, what to study once I got there, and in hundreds of other small decisions. The Holy Ghost also serves as a comforter. He has blessed me with feelings of peace, love, warmth, and comfort at times when I have felt most alone and desperate for help. I have been warned of dangers through the influence of the Spirit and have been able to be directed to activities that are safe and uplifting. I have been protected from harm many times because I was able to recognize the influence of the Holy Ghost in my heart and mind. I am so grateful to have the Holy Ghost in my life and His influence guiding me and helping me in all of my daily endeavors. Show more Show less

What is faith?

Chelsea
In both the Bible and the Book of Mormon, faith is defined as having a hope for things that we cannot see, but we know are true. In studying the topic of faith, I have come to realize that it is literally placing your trust in God and believing His words and teachings with confidence. Faith is a sure hope in those things that we cannot see with our own eyes and trusting the Lord with confidence that what He desires for us will be what truly is best in the grand scheme of things. We have to be willing to act on those things we are taught and by doing so, we will be able to see small glimpses of what God sees in us and in the world around us. These small glimpses will testify of God's reality and power. Faith takes a lot of work on our part, but the blessings that come from exercising a little bit of faith in the Lord are truly magnificent. The Lord will always bless us immensely for even the smallest amount of faith and trust that we place in Him, in His will, and in His timing. Show more Show less
