Hi I'm Colin Cutler

I am studying to become an engineer, I love robots, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I am a student working toward becoming an engineer. I am unsure which branch of engineering, but I love working on robots, so it would probably be electrical or computer science. Ever since I was a child, I loved taking stuff apart. I wasn't always as successful at putting them back. I have been on a robotics team for 3 years, the last of which I helped build a mock martian rover. It was with the University of Washington Robotics Team. I also enjoying many other activities, including colored pencil art, alpine skiing with my family, and camping.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into a Mormon household, and grew up with the Gospel, and the principles and guidelines set forth by the church. I have seen firsthand how the teachings of Christ and modern day revelation can bless individuals and families. I am glad that after this life, I can live once again with my family. There was some time where I questioned my faith, whether I am Mormon only because it is expected of me. After much soul searching, I learned there are several stories that can only be explained with divine help. When my father became a bishop, he was blessed that his family would be protected spiritually and temporally. I have seen this protection myself. Several times while driving, inspiration from the Holy Ghost guided me to avoiding accidents. I hardly recognize them in the moment as being divine protection, but shortly afterward, I realize that it couldn't have been anything else. I know that Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love us, and will help us if we pray and ask. I remember in college, I was signing up for classes, and couldn't sleep due to indecision. I wanted to take an advanced programming class, but was unsure whether I would be able to handle the course-load. I was so stressed about the decision, that I prayed for guidance about what I should do.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a full time missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I have put my studies on pause to serve the people within the Belgium/Netherlands mission for two years. When I was making preparations to leave, I got asked several times by good, non-member friends why I was leaving. It is a big deal to leave your personal life for 2 years to serve the Lord. Maybe it is. What is the bigger deal is how much He has done for me. What I am doing now is paying a token payment back. I cannot possibly repay Him for all he has done for me, but I can do the best I can to serve his other children.
