Hi I'm Jacob

I grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah. I love extreme outdoor sports including biking and wakeboarding. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My absolute favorite thing is to spend time in the outdoors doing things such as mountain biking, mountain uni cycling, hiking and camping, boating and wake boarding, river-rafting, snowmobiling, snowboarding, four-wheeling, and just about any other outdoor activity you can think of! I also enjoy playing sports. I played basketball for my high school team, but I kind of regret not trying out for any other sports. I really enjoy playing the piano and singing as well. I took piano lessons for about 6 or 7 years and stopped taking lessons at age 16. I would try to sing more, but unfortunately I've been told I only sound good in the shower... I'm very interested in the human body and how it works so I plan on increasing my knowledge of the human body during my college experience and hopefully progress into the medical field for my career.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into this church and grew up as a part of it. My parents are faithful members so as i grew up it was easy for me to look up to their example and just do what they did and what they told me to do. But there came a point in my life where I wanted to know for myself if this was the true church or not. I was done relying on my parents' testimonies and was ready to gain my own. I thought long and hard about it and as I prayed and read the scriptures daily, slowly but surely I gained my own testimony about the truthfulness of this church. I know that everything about The Church of Jesus Christ of Later-Day Saints is true. I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that he loves all of us. He literally is our Savior. He sacrificed himself for us so that we may be able to repent of our sins. None of us are perfect and it is through him that we may be saved. I know that Joseph Smith was and is a true prophet of God and that he restored the Gospel to the Earth so that we too may experience the happiness and blessings that come from it. I know that Thomas S. Monson is the true prophet today and that he receives revelation from God so that we may be able to know how to live righteously. I testify that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that through reading it we will receive blessings and more importantly receive or strengthen our testimonies. I know that we are all sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven and that he loves each and every one of us with all of his heart. I know that God has a plan for us here on earth and that he also has a plan for us after we die. If we live righteously here on earth, we can live with our families in heaven for eternity in the presence of God. Families can be together forever. I know that if we give 100% effort into serving our Eternal Father in Heaven, then he will meet us halfway to bless our lives and the lives of our families and I humbly testify of these things in the name of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I've grown up in a very friendly community where all of my neighbors have become close friends. Most of them are members and are even in the same ward as me. I attend church every Sunday that I can and I absolutely love it. During the week I find myself getting so excited for Sunday! I get excited because everyone is just so happy and kind at church. I love the weekly activities with the youth of the ward. We meet on Wednesdays to do activities with each other and they are so much fun! One of my favorite things about Sunday is the service I can do for others. I have a Visiting Teaching companion and we go twice a month to our assigned houses to share a quick lesson with them. We have two families and both of the families are in our ward. It is so fun to get to know them better to increase our friendship. We share with them a spiritual message, our testimonies of this church, and leave them with a prayer. Then we ask them if there is anything they need from us. I really enjoy visiting teaching with my companion. It is great to attend church and to be involved in church activities and service, but there are other things I do to live my faith. In my personal time on Sunday and during the week, I often read the Bible, New Testament, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine & Covenants to increase my knowledge of this church and also to build my faith. I also offer prayers to our Father in Heaven daily to thank him for my blessings and to ask him for continual faith.
