Hi I'm Virginia (Ginger)

I'm a Louisiana girl, married to a genuinely good guy. We are parents to six and grandparents to 15 and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

In 2013 my husband and I moved from our Utah home, returning to the South to care for my ageing parents who happened to be very cool. They made it to their 70th Wedding Anniversary before peacefully passing to the other side in 2016, Mama in January and Daddy in September. Caring for them was payback for putting me through Nursing school over 40 years ago. More than that, it was an absolute privilege to give them loving care, allowing them to remain at home surrounded by those who love them. It was difficult to leave friends, our dear children and grand children where we have happily lived for over 28 years. We missed them, but we needed to be here. I am a retired Labor/Delivery/Nursery RN of over 40 years. I loved helping bring new born babies into this world and seeing the love that parents have for a new child. For fun, I ride a motorcycle, having logged over 16,000 miles on my Honda 750, a good way to see the USA. I love travel, food, family, friends and anything fun, especially the beach. My husband of 42+ years keeps me grounded and I'm so grateful we have each other. In 80 days we will go on an adventure that we have planned our whole married life. We have been called to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the beautiful state of New Jersey! I am looking forward to serving the people there and in being the nurse to those precious young men and women who will also be serving full time missions as representatives of Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

Being a Mormon happens to be the best choice that I have EVER made. In my teens, a friend asked me to listen to a message that the Missionaries were sharing. My parents allowed me to listen as long as they could listen, to make sure that the Mormons were not some sort of cult or something. Being raised Southern Baptist, I had been taught about God and Jesus Christ and had already accepted Christ as my Savior. I knew how to pray and I knew the Bible so I had a good foundation for the fullness of the Gospel. I learned that the same Church that Jesus established when He was on the Earth has been restored to the Earth again. I learned that the Savior directed the restoration and that He continues to be the living head of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I read the Book of Mormon, another witness of Jesus Christ. It is true scripture too and goes hand in hand with the Bible. These things are too powerful and wonderful to deny. When I asked my parents if I could be baptized they said, "Ginger, we have taught you to pray and follow God, so you must do what you know to be right." I will be forever grateful for their wisdom and love. So at 16, I was baptized a member of the Church. Although I found resistance from a tiny few, I count my membership as most precious above all that I have. It means so much to me to have a Prophets guidance today, the same as in the days of Moses, Noah, Abraham or any other Prophet. The heavens are not closed and God loves all of His children. God has a plan for each of us to return to Him, through Jesus Christ. I love my family and find comfort in knowing that we can be together forever through the holy ordinances that have been restored. I love that the Church gave us valuable tools like the Family Home Evening program to help us raise our children and to have a close family. I invite you to listen to these things and pray and find out for yourself that they are true.

How I live my faith

I currently teach the youth and recently returned from Camp where we got to canoe through the bayou with a bunch of giggling and occasionally screaming 12-17 year old girls. I love to read my scriptures and try to take time each day to be still, ponder and pray. I feel God nearest when I look at this beautiful world that He created for us. I love to attend Church on Sunday and serve others during the week. I like to share the Gospel Of Jesus Christ with others because it brings me so much joy to see others come unto Christ. I try to follow the example that Jesus set and give service to others, sometimes that can be as simple as listening to and being there for a friend.
