Hi I'm Katelyn

I grew up in Utah. Graduated from Maple Mountain High School. Currently going to Utah Valley University. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I LOVE playing basketball, volleyball, running, and basically anything that gets me out of the house and out with friends and family. I love music. I sing, I write music, I play the piano and I love listening to music. I teach music in primary as my church calling and I LOVE it! I also love the rain! I love dancing in the rain and singing in the rain and just playing in the rain in general. I love being out and about doing random things. My friends and I randomly have days called RAK. It stands for Random Acts of Kindness. We have so much fun! We do things from baking cookies for friends to pulling weeds in our neighbors yard. It's so much fun!!!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. My mom is a less active member so I usually end up going to church by myself most weeks. My siblings have all fallen away from the church and my dad and I don't usually get along. It can be tough some times with people always asking me why I still go to church when no one else in my family does. I go because I know it's true. When I graduated from high school I had plans to go to college, get married and have a happy family, just like most people. But of course, things aren't always that easy. I went to college and was planning on serving an LDS mission, but then I started dating this guy and a few months later we were engaged. The day he proposed to me I had this overwhelming feeling that I needed to serve a mission. But I ignored the feeling and planned the wedding. I frequently had the prompting that I needed to serve a mission but I ignored it each time. Later on we got into some trouble before we were to be sealed in the temple and things just started to fall apart. We were unable to be sealed in the temple on our desired date because of the mistake we had made. It was frustrating. We started to fight and argue constantly and there was no love in our relationship any longer. Finally we realized we needed to set things straight. Through the atonement we knew we could be clean again. Through many tears and bishop visits we were finally back on track. However instead of getting married, I finally realized that I needed to serve a mission. I talked to my fiance and we sat down and talked about it. I will be serving an LDS mission. It was one of the hardest decision I've ever had to make. But I want to share the happiness I've felt through being part of this amazing gospel. I know this gospel is true. I know the Savior loves each and everyone of us. I know He lives. I know He knows me and understand each trial and temptation I go through. I know He will always be there for me. I know that through the atonement we can be made clean again.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving as a full time missionary for the church. I serve as an American Sign Language sister. I have the opportunity every day to go out and share the amazing gospel with everyone I meet and specifically work with the deaf to share the gospel in their own language. I'm so blessed to be apart of this gospel and so many wonderful blessings come from living the standards. Miracles happen. Faith is strengthened and doubt cannot set in. :)
