Hi I'm Jacob

I was born in Germany, but grew up in the United States. I am serving in the France Paris Mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have grown in a strong LDS family with my parents, two girls, and six boys. I am the youngest of the eight kids. Sports are a big part of my life, as well as academics. I love to learn and have time with extracurricular activities. I love my family and wouldn't have chosen anyone else to be in it. I attend school at Brigham Young University - Idaho and I am majoring in Biology. I also was apart of the Boy Scouts of America and earned the Eagle Scout rank.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it is something that is very near and dear to my heart. My Grandmother was out one day with my father, who was three at the time, on the streets of California when two missionaries stopped them. They began talking and shortly after started taking lessons with my Grandfather being present as well. Well, like most stories, my Grandmother ended up getting baptized. My father and his siblings did as well when they came of age. But it was not until my dad chose to serve a mission that his father decided to be baptized as well. This story has stuck with me and been a great reminder of why it is that I want to serve a mission. If it wasn't for those two missionaries, I may not have been within the church today and I could not imagine what my life could be like without it. I have gained a personal testimony and confirmation that the church is true and I wouldn't trade that knowledge for anything.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending church every Sunday. I love the fact that I get to go for three hours every weekend to hear lessons and talks about the church. I enjoy the feeling of comfort and peace that I feel when I attend church. I also live my faith by giving two years of my life to serve a mission for the church.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

The answer is no. Not all Mormons are required to serve missions. In fact, it is more of an obligation for the young men of the church to serve as mission as a responsibility to their calling from God. Women, however, have the opportunity to choose if they would like to or not. Older married couples also have the chance to serve a mission if they so choose, but they are not required either.
