Hi I'm Julisa

I love music, I love my family. I enjoy being happy. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Honestly, I'm just an average joe born and raised in a small country town in Idaho. I'm the youngest of 3 children and the only girl, so yes, I will admit I've been spoiled. I pretty much love to do anything! Spending time with my family is one thing that I will always cherish. Traveling and being adventurous is always a favorite pass time as well. I also play many musical instruments, I dance ballet on pointe, I play volleyball, I enjoy being outside, I love being creative and artsy, I am constantly learning knew things and increasing my education, and most of all I love serving others! If there is ever an opportunity to volunteer I step up to the plate. I help others simply because it makes me happy, and I choose to be happy no matter what the circumstance.

Why I am a Mormon

Many may think that I am a Mormon simply because I was born and raised in a Mormon family. Although that is partially true I have had, and will continue to have, many opportunities to learn, grow, and decide for myself if being a Mormon is what I want. It isn't my parents, brothers, or neighbors that decide if I'm a Mormon. It's my choice. I choose to be a Mormon because I choose happiness. Many, many aspects in this wonderful Gospel make me happy, but especially knowing that if I do the best I can then I will be able to spend eternity with my family, and nothing makes me happier than having that knowledge! Being a member of this church is by no means easy. Hardships are still had, hearts are still broken, pain is still felt, and life is still hard. But having the Gospel in my life has made tough trials in my life bearable. Because with God, ALL things as possible.

How I live my faith

How do I live my faith? Living my faith is not something I have to schedule a spot for on my daily calendar, rather it's something that is incorporated in everything I do. This Gospel is a part of me and as a result of that, everything I do and every action, or reaction, I make reflects my faith and beliefs in the Gospel. When I help someone who dropped their books on campus, or do yard work for an elderly couple, or offer an open heart to someone who is having a rough day it is because the Gospel has helped me understand that serving my fellow brothers and sisters is a way of serving God, and what is better than that? Absolutely nothing. Another way I live my faith is by sharing my love and talent of music. I play many musical instruments. Piano, organ, cello, clarinet, guitar, and ukelele are the instruments I have picked up so far. I often say that music is my first language, English is my second. I feel that I can express myself and my feelings the best when I play and share a musical piece with others. I have had the wonderful opportunity to share that talent with those who are present for my musical numbers during church meetings. I can't even begin to tell you how strong the Spirit can be felt when listening to music. It is truly a remarkable and miraculous feeling, and no inch in my body or soul can give any doubt to this Gospel. I hope that someday everyone can have that experience as well.

What are some things that tell you there is a God?

For me, knowing that there is a God has never been a question for me. I have never doubted in His existence and I'm grateful for that knowledge and testimony that I have. However, I have had several family members and friends ask how I can know of such surety that He exists. They often doubt He is real because they can not physically see Him. The easiest way for me to explain is to liken God to wind. How do you know that the wind exists when you can not physically see it? We know that there is wind because we feel it, and we can see the effects the wind has, and often times we can even hear the wind. Well, the same is with God. We can feel when the Spirit, we can see the effects God has on others and on the world around us, and we can even hear Him speak to us if we listen quietly and patiently. It's always amazing to me to look at the stars or the beautiful world around us or to look at our families and friends. When I look at these amazing creations I have no doubt in my mind that there is a God, and for that I am eternally grateful. Anytime you have any doubts or question even a little bit of God's existence, I challenge you to escape the chaos of the world around you and find a beautiful spot in nature to ponder, hear, and see what God has given us.
