Hi I'm Liz

Oregon native. BYU - Idaho student. Prospective missionary. Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the beautiful state of Oregon. I am currently a student at Brigham Young University in Idaho.

Why I am a Mormon

My reasons for being a Mormon have changed as I've grown from a little child into an adult. Growing up, I was a Mormon because my parents were, and I stayed active because the church brought happiness into my life. I was taught to trust in God, pray, serve, learn, teach, love and live the best life that I could. Doing each of these things was what brought happiness into my life. Then there came a time in my life when I became somewhat rebellious and lived contrary to what I had been taught. A once happy life turned to sorrow and regret as I stopped saying my personal prayers and rarely studied the scriptures. Without those guiding tools of God in my life, I was lost, and stuck. Remembering the happiness that was once felt in life, I was determined to come back to Christ. It has taken a long time, and I have made countless mistakes along the way, but I have finally made it back to Christ. I am no longer a Mormon just because of my parents' membership, nor am I a Mormon because it makes me happy. Rather, I am a Mormon because the doctrines taught, standards upheld, and priesthood authority present are what continue to bring me closer and closer to my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. As I have come closer to God by being obedient to His commandments and keeping the covenants I have made with Him, I have developed a deep love and gratitude for Him and His gospel.

How I live my faith

Living my faith has changed throughout the years as I have learned what faith actually means. Until recently, I would have just listed the callings that I've had; which include, gospel doctrine teacher, ward missionary, indexing specialist, primary teacher, and visiting teacher. But now that I understand faith to be a word of action and total trust in God, I have decided to live my faith in a more dedicated manner. I have decided to go on a mission in an effort to show God that I love Him enough to act in faith. I am living my faith by taking a step into the dark, and trusting that God will lead me every step of the way as I share His gospel with the world.
