Hi I'm Marsha

I grew up in Grand island & Omaha NE & Southern CA. . I am a mother, grandmother, a retired school teacher and I am a Mormon!

About Me

I was born into a family where mother and father were members of the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS. I grw up in Grand Island, Omaha and Ca. I am the mother of 4 children and 5 step-children. I am grandmother to 21. My maiden name is Blockburger. My other married name was Awsumb. I am a retired Special Education teacher. I like to read historical books, be in the outdoors doing most everything, and spend time with family. My husband and I will be leaving in April to serve an 18 month mission in the Australia Sydney North Mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have read the Book of Mormon and prayed about it. I received a confirmation that The Church of Jesus Christ is true. Each time I read the scriptures, I feel the witness if the truthfulness of the gospel. I live my family and am so happy to know that we will be a family after we die. Understanding Heavenly Fathers Plan for us helps me each day make good choices. My husband and I were married in the Temple for time and all eternity. I have been healed by the power of the Priesthood and seen others healed through this power given to righteous men on earth to act in God's name.

How I live my faith

I serve as a teacher of 5 5 year old boys. I am a Visiting Teacher which is an awesome experience. I visit three woman each month. We sometimes get to gather and visit while the children play. Most of the time my companion and I meet with them in their home. We talk, read scriptures, learn about being more Christ-Like and share our joys and sorrows.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

Marsha
Mormons did practice polygamy in the early days of the church as revealed to Joseph Smith. My great grandfather had four wives, but when the church gave an Official Declaration that we no longer practice it, the family stopped and we no longer practice this. I know that families were blessed by living the principal in the 1800's. It is my testimony that we are no longer asked to be involved in polygamy. In fact, a person that does choice polygamy cannot enter into the Temple which is the most sacred place of our religion where families are sealed together for all eternity. Show more Show less
