Hi I'm Katie

I'm a daughter, sister, elementary education major, outdoors girl, sports fan, singer, future missionary, I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am a college student studying elementary education. I love to sing and have been in choirs since I was a little girl. Music is very big in my life. I can't go a day without some kind of music I love to be outdoors hiking, camping, fishing, four wheeling, and backpacking. I love sports and I can get pretty competitive. It doesn't matter if I am watching or playing I get pretty into the game. I love to laugh and smile and make other people laugh and smile. I love taking pictures especially with those I love whether it be friends or family. Family is very important to me. I am the oldest of three but the second oldest of six. I absolutely love being a big sister. I have three brothers, one older and two younger, and two younger sisters. My mom died when I was 16 which was rough but Heavenly Father blessed me and my family by sending us my amazing step mom and my three amazing step siblings. They have been a huge blessing in my life and I don't know what I would do without them. They are the family I had to wait a little while to get. I am preparing to serve a mission in the Botswana Gaborone Africa mission and leave August 7. I am excited to serve and know that I will have help from both sides of the veil.

Why I am a Mormon

I have grown up a Mormon. It has always been a part of my life. My family is Mormon and the majority of my friends are Mormon. I have had so many amazing examples in my life that have helped me learn this gospel and show me what it really is all about. This gospel gives me hope and comfort. When I am going through hard times I know that they will not last and that I can make it through. I know I am not going to be given anything that I can not handle. It's nice to know that Heavenly Father knows who I am and what I can handle. He has given me some hard times but has never left me a lone to do it all on my own. He has been there to listen or sent me someone that I needed to help me. I know He trusts me enough to send me the experiences that He does. The gospel makes me happy. I know why I am here and where I am going. The gospel give my life purpose and direction. I choose to live it because I know that it is true! It has always been there in my life when I needed it!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by sticking to my standards and trying to be a good example to others. I have had the opportunity to have callings such youth conference youth committee member, serve in three different presidencies in young women, and the gospel doctrine teacher for Sunday school in my singles ward. I learned a lot from each one. I also read my scriptures and pray daily. I am imperfect but I always try to live the way I have been taught.
