Hi I'm Rebeckah St. Laurent

I grew up in southern California. I ran cross country and track in high school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Some of my favorite things to do is to read, write, and draw. I enjoy watching wedding shows, because I love how happy brides are as they prepare for their special day. I'm single, not married, but I do hope to one day be married. I'm currently attending Brigham Young University, and I'm currently majoring in geology. I'm the seventh out of eight children, six girls and two boys--I enjoy having a large family.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were first generation converts to the church. Therefore, I grew up in this church my entire life. However, that didn't mean that I myself wasn't a convert. One of the major reasons why I enjoy this church and this faith is that, to me, it makes life make sense. It sets up a reason why we were created, why we are striving to return to the prescence of our Heavenly Father, and where we came from. However, that doesn't mean that I never had my doubts. You see, when I was growing up, I relied upon the testimony of my parents. I had never once thought to question my own testimony of the truthfulness of this church. But one night, I was discussing the church with my mother, and she suggested to me to pray, for myself, about the truthfulness of the church. I was surprised to say in the least. But then, when I really thought about it, I realized that I should pray to Heavenly Father about the truthfulness of this church. So that night I got down on my knees, and I told Heavenly Father that I wanted to know if this church was true. And I realized then that Heavenly Father didn't answer in a loud, angel choir singing type of way. The way that he answered was a calm feeling, a sense of warmth and comfort. And that small voice inside my head, a quiet and calm voice, said to me that I already knew the answer to that question. And the answer was that it was true. It was the true church of God, the church with the full restored gospel. But that isn't to say I haven't had my trials or my doubts. Heavenly Father has tested my comitted, has taught me what the atonement of Jesus Christ was truely meant for, and the utter relief and happiness it can provide if done properly. But with each test, with each trial that I thought I could never get through alone, I got through because of my faith in this church and my knowledge that Christ is at my side.

How I live my faith

My current calling is a Visiting Teaching District Supervisor. This is when other sisters of the church go and visit their fellow sisters to share a lesson and to check upon their life, they report to me that they had visited their assigned sisters. This is to make sure that the needs of all sisters are met, and none are left out.
