Hi I'm Heather

I grew up in Ontario but moved after my parents separated. I am in University taking a bachelors degree in Nursing.

About Me

I was raised in a Catholic family and was even in a Catholic school. I was a lucky child; I had a home, two parents and lots of opportunities. But that all changed when my father's alcoholism caused my parents to separate. My mother ended up taking my younger brother and I to another province, hoping that we could have a fresh start. However, we fell into financial and spiritual distress. I began living a dark and troubled life. Luckily, one day I decided to sign onto YouTube to watch videos instead of doing my calculus homework. A documentary about the Mormon church appeared in my recommended videos and I watched it. I was suddenly compelled to know more (despite the documentary begin very critical of the church). I put in a request online for a Book of Mormon but just couldn't wait so I looked online for the phone number of the closest Mormon church and called it. A friendly voice answered and directed the phone over to a pair of Sister Missionaries. Before long I was reading the Book of Mormon nightly and committing my life to Heavenly Father. I was baptized in June of 2013 and absolutely LOVE my faith. I feel very blessed, especially now that I am in University studying to become a nurse, and I know that if it wasn't for the Mormon church, I would probably be lost in the darker parts of society.

Why I am a Mormon

Although I had been a member for months, I gained a testimony that this church was the true church in December 2013. I had been having a horrible day, and had realized that I had committed sins that could have caused me a lot of trouble. I broke down and was inconsolable. During my breakdown I spontaneously felt feelings of warmth, comfort, purity and lightness and at once. It was at that very moment that I felt God and his love and I could finally understand why Jesus Christ atoned for our sins. From that moment on I knew I was a part of the truth church. I have committed my life to Christ and to living and sharing his gospel. I love Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and His Church :)

How I live my faith

I love to share my faith with anyone and everyone who wants to know! I try to volunteer my time whenever possible and always make myself available for community events.
