Hi I'm Melinda

I'm from Idaho. I'm a student at BYU. I'm a huge choir nerd! And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Idaho. I'm now going to college at BYU Provo and I'm majoring in music education. I love music, because I can feel Christ's spirit so strongly. I know that Heavenly Father has blessed me with the gift of music. I hope that by sharing it with others, I can inspire them and help bring them closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

During the summer before my senior year of high school, I was very lost and confused. I had no idea what to do with my life, and my testimony was hanging by a thread. I tried to be independent and figure things out on my own, but that just made me more frustrated. After many months of failed efforts, I realized that I had to humble myself and ask Heavenly Father. This was the first time in a long time that I prayed with real sincerity and a real desire for an answer. I told Heavenly Father that I didn't know what to do and that I needed His help. Whatever He needed me to do and whatever I needed to do, I would do it, but I needed Him to tell me. The next day was General Conference (a semi-annual, worldwide meeting where current church leaders speak). Withing 10 minutes of the meeting starting, President Thomas S. Monson lowered the age of full-time missionary serve from 19 to 18 for young men and 21 to 19 for young women. Right then, I knew that my answer was to serve a mission. I felt Christ's spirit testify so strongly that it was the right thing to do. This was the first time that I really felt like Heavenly Father heard and answered my prayers. I have grown so much closer to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ by preparing to serve. My testimony and love for this gospel has increased so much since then. I know that Heavenly Father loves me, and that I am His daughter. I know that He has a plan for me, but I need to trust in Him and His timing. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to serve Heavenly Father and His children. I can't wait to go on my mission and bring others to the gospel.

How I live my faith

Being at BYU has helped my testimony grow so much. I've seen a huge change in myself since starting college. I study the gospel more than I have before, and it has blessed my life so much. I've grown so much closer to the Savior through my constant study. "Draw near unto me and I will draw near unto you; seek me diligently and ye shall find me; ask, and ye shall receive; knock, and it shall be opened unto you" (Doctrine and Covenants 88:63). I've noticed that my attitude and behavior have also improved. I am so much happier because I am closer to Christ. His constant companionship has brought me great peace, comfort, and joy. Christ's love and example have inspired me to be a better person and to continue growing in the gospel.
