Hi I'm Marina

I am a certified Dental Assistant, I am currently serving a mission in Washington D.C, and I am a Mormon!

About Me

My life revolves around music I sing, play the piano, and dance. I pretty much do anything that involves being outdoors. I play tennis, read, cook, and enjoy doing interior design. I spend a lot of time with friends and family. I have a bucket list of 40 things that I want to do in my life. I like trying new things and being spontaneous! I am a certified Dental Assistant and had the opportunity to go on a humanitarian effort with my boss in El Salvador for 10 days. We did dental work on youth that wanted to serve missions. The experience was so incredible! it made me grateful for the knowledge that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints brings me. So much that the experience helped me to decide to serve a mission myself. And because of that experience I have a love of serving people and a desire to travel.

Why I am a Mormon

I have had the privilege of being born and raised in the gospel, but like every member of the church you have to gain your own testimony for yourself. I learned through studying the teachings the gospel has and by praying to God, asking him if this church really is true and if it's the same church that Christ organized when he came to earth. And he did! He answered my prayer and confirmed that it was true by the good feelings I felt and the better person that I made me want to be. I have since had questions but they have always been answered and confirmed and I believe with my whole heart that it is true! This gospel gives me the full knowledge of why I am here and what my purpose is in this world. Without it I would not be who I am today, it brings peace into my life and defines who I am.

How I live my faith

I have such a strong knowledge that God does hear and answers our prayers. For the longest time I felt awkward when I said prayers. I knew that I was supposed to do them so I did, but didn't really communicate with him. I have since then discovered how saying my prayers works best for me. I am a visual learning and write a lot. So I decided I would write my personal prayers, tell him everything that I was feeling or thinking, ask him questions, and thank him for things he has given me. Since then I have recognized that God really does acknowledge and answer my prayers. It is a constant communication and on going conversation. I love the power of prayer and am blessed to have the perfect person in the whole universe listen and care about me! I am currently serving a mission in Washington D.C and I live all the standards God has set to make my life the happiest it can be!

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The Atonement of Jesus Christ is our way as humans to live with God again. We all loved God and wanted to be just like him, so he created this plan for us to become like him. It required that we come to earth and receive a body like he has. It required us to learn and grow, to learn right from wrong. We would make mistakes as we learned, we would sin, we had to in order to grow. Because God is perfect no person that sins can live with him. So he sent his Son, Jesus Christ who is also perfect to take upon himself all of our sins, so that we can be sin free and return to God's presence. As Christ took upon him our sins he also felt every feeling that we will feel, that way we won't ever be alone in this process. We can't all comprehend how he did this but we can feel the effects of it in our life. It brings new changes and new beginnings. Hope and peace when we are sad or afraid. Because Christ lived again after he died we too will live again. I am eternally grateful that he willingly did this for me! Show more Show less
