Hi I'm Eric David Bowen

I grew up in a small town in Northern Utah... Mendon, Utah. I am a lifetime member of the Church and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I have been married to my wife,Terri, for 36 years. I am a father of five children, four daughters and one son. I have four grandsons and one granddaughter and they call me "Pompa" and this year (2016) will add 3 more to that total. They are the crown jewel of our lives. I have been a Cabinetmaking Instructor at a vocational school for 25 years teaching both high school and adults in that trade. During the years I have earned a B.S. degree in Industrial Teacher Education and a Master's Degree in Engineering and Technology Education. I served as a missionary in the Argentina Cordoba mission. My son served in the Canada Calgary Spanish Speaking mission and my youngest daughter just completed serving in the North Carolina Charlotte mission. Some of my favorite things to do is working.. whether it be gardening, woodworking, yard work, and serving others. I love all kinds of sports and am an avid fast pitch softball fan, with baseball, football, and hockey close behind. I like the outdoors... hunting, camping, and fishing. I love mountain lakes and streams. The greatest thing in my life is my family... They keep me grounded. One of our favorite things to do is to have a bonfire in our back yard with friends and family and enjoy a hot dog or a tin foil dinner. Anything to be with my family... I love them.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because it gives me direction as to where I came from, why am I here, and where do I go after this life... without this knowledge, where would I be? I am a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, because I know that I have a living Savior that loves me, knows me, who hears and answers my prayers, and wants me to be like Him so that I can return, (with my family), to live with my Heavenly Father. I know that the Savior died for you and for me to take upon Him the sins of the world and that through the atonement, all mankind can be made clean through repentance and doing as He did. I testify that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints revolves around the family. Everything that we do in this church is to perfect ourselves and perfect our families. I know that we are led by prophets, even as in days of old, that teach us, guide us, and lead us towards happiness. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and is a Another Testament (along with the Bible) that Jesus is the Christ. I know this because I have put to test the promise in Moroni 10:3-5 and have received a witness from God that is is true and I invite all to put to test this same promise after reading the Book of Mormon... I know you get an answer from God. I know that families can be forever. LDS Temples dotting the earth have the power within to seal families together for time and all eternity. Why? Because it is God's plan! He is the the cornerstone of this church and he has restored the priesthood keys and the authority to the earth through the young Prophet Joseph Smith. I know that he saw God, the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ in the Sacred Grove in 1820 and was an instrument to restore all things that constitute the True Church of Jesus Christ. I invite you to also study this out in your mind and your heart and ask the Lord if the things that I tell you are true. I testify that as you can also know the truth of all things.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving others... I like to put a smile on people's face and let them know that I care about them as a person. I have been appointed in my community to be the Sexton of the cemetery and have found it to be the most rewarding appointment I have ever had... Why? Because I get to serve others in their time of need and help them to cope with a difficult time by helping them find a final resting spot for their loved ones. Currently, I serve as a second counselor in a bishopric of a YSA (Young Single Adult) Ward. In this calling, I have the opportunity to serve a congregation of amazing young latter day saints from 18-31 years old. Many of these young people are university students but there are several that are out of school and working in their chosen professions. They are a great strength to me as I watch them serving the Lord in their callings as well as serving others. It is a very rewarding calling and I am honored to serve. One of my favorite things to do is serving my neighborhood widows... shoveling snow, helping them with their yard, and providing them with garden produce all summer long, and taking the time to sit down with them and visit with them... They enjoy that the most and it brings a smile to my face also. I call them all my "aunts" (although we aren't related) because I have grown up with them my whole life and they have always been good to me. I have recently had my father and my mother pass away. My father was at the same rest home for eight years and and my mother for two years. Although difficult, this has been a especially great way to serve. I have made many friends at the rest home over the last several years. They offer so much to learn from and help to apply these teachings to my own life. I continue to visit these fine people because it increases my faith every time. I love them dearly. The Savior said, "Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me." That is my goal.
